thats with the welded rod ends? wow. Like 4'' shorter than standard.

So I bought 3 4runner roof racks from the junk yard thinking id do this. Its not a good idea. Due to the extended cab part that is a hump the 4runner rails won't work. Thus why I just said fuck it and went with the aluminum tracks. you can trim it down well for a double cab though haha if you trim it for an extended cab you can really only use the extended cab section. So it would be 12'' long or so. Kind of worthless. Plan on adding some stick on rubber up there in places as the only thing I think that's worth putting up there is the maxxtrax. Otherwise anything else is too tall and impact power/mpgs on the highway DRAMATICALLY.

Why you want to put stuff on the roof? You have like 3/4 of your bed left..

Anyways, yeah I just used silicon. Plus had planned on running a bead up and down the sides of the rails.

Never has leaked. Ironically, the windsheild has a leak ha

    Nice!

On of my favorite stories about my dad is He and friend Ron were in the Big Horn Canyon.

    This guy:

[IMG]DeTour-76.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

So there are down there fishing and Ron goes.

"Hey Steve, it looks like we are taking on some water"

My dads thinking. "meh, can't be that bad" Keeps fishing

"Steve we are REALLY taking on water!!"

Oh shit! tons of water in the boat.

    "GO to shore!"

    "Where?"

    "Anywhere just go!"

Barely make it to "shore", cause there isn't much of one there in the canyon and the boat is ready to sink at this point.

Ron's freaking out, not sure how they made it or how they are gonna get back.

Dad finds a stick. Whittles id down to size. Finds the hole. Plugs it with the stick. Bails out most the water.

    "okay lets go"

    "Back right?"

    "Hello no, keep fishing!"

    Classic.

Id highly suggest not putting anything on the roof you need to get too a lot. Its just a pain. Seems cool. But its not. Unless the container is very quick to get too and take down.

Also the plano boxes won't work well as the hump makes the roof have an angle. So the boxes end up tipped at the point. Thats why the other racks have two different height rails and why the prinsue does that too. To make a flat top.

Our roof just isn't that handy of a place to put stuff sadly. The only time it was useful was my bedrack/roof rack and when i kept those smaller ammo cans up there with my air stuff and things like you're talking. But I could easily grab them one at a time as needed. Big mounted boxes are hard to get too.

Eh, they aren't too much smaller than what I had. It was pretty shocking the impact it had. So just keep it as low as possible.

hmm. Lame. Don't wanna drill through it? Could probably swap out the struts that open it for beefier ones?

Sad day today Mike. Polished off the last of the salsa. Good batch man. We had tacos twice with shredded pork/green chili and cabbage coleslaw. Was great on those! I screwed up and never made gauc though..

Cheap as possible. 2-4k likely. Thus the idea of a prerunner. I've seen them go for that around here since they don't have 4wd.

Unless its super clean and a good deal that is. Won't complain about a nice cheap cleanish 4wd. Which that truck is.

That's the direction I'd go. Seems like you can find a lot of them for the price he wants. 4 doors are more popular. Cheapest I've seen is one I bought to flip with 300,000 on it for $4,800

Edit: even wrecked ones pull in 2-3k

New version of Lightroom CC now includes HDR panorama's. Select the 27 (or however many frames that are your HDR + frames for the panorama), and go.
