    first page is updated :)

This recent situation has brought to light the need for me to make certain clarifications on the service im offering. There are too many avenues of interpretations for imperfections in the product I am offering. Personally, I have yet to make a perfect satoshi grille. Even the best one I have made had flaws. Thus, I have updated the first page to warn members of the risks of using my service.

As I am offering this service to help TW members, I am indifferent to the demand for my service. Honestly, I do it to help members out. If after this incident, people stop requesting my service, I will be glad in knowing they have located someone else who probably offers superior quality and/or value then me.

The fact that my service isnt perfect also explains why I have never requested to become a vendor. I dont want to risk damaging TW's reputation for offering a product that some may view as being sub-par. I dont intend on being a vendor as I dont have the time to offer this service full time, or wish to view myself as a vendor because I am merely trying to help members out.

Got_titan, I want to help you out, but I stand firm in not paying for shipping both ways. If I do this then I open the gate for all customers, past, present and future, to ask for perceived perfection.

I've only read a few of the posts here. I have used Blackhawke88 to do a couple jobs for me. He installed a grillecraft grille and he color matched my chrome bumper. In both cases he was quick, his work was top-notch, he was professional and his prices quite honestly were lower than what they could have been. I got the impression that it wasn't a business for Aaron he was really just helping a fellow TW member out. His work may not be perfect all the time but it sure was for me...and he's a damn good guy to boot!

I'm sorry if someone didn't get what they wanted but I have no problem recommending him without hesitation.

although im not happy about paying for shipping i will commend arron for stepping up on this! i will take him up on his offer because i am a perfectionist and like things done right. i think this could have went a very different way if when i contacted arron he had showed ANY kind of concern or even explained that those type of flaws are normal and all his grills had that to a certain extent....all i got was you can repaint that yourself. everyone is coming down hard on me and i even posted a thread to the tacoma members asking what i should do...everyone told me to post the problem up so i did...now all everyone can do is bash me...im an honest person and reasonable...i wanted to let someone else do this job because i dont have the patients or time to do bodywork. some of you guys are so quick to assume something or take someones side just cause you dont know the other person, THATS WRONG! i have done nothing wrong! I have no hard feeling to arron over this i just felt that the quality of work could have been better and if he had told me that was normal for him before or even after it would have made a difference....for everyone sending me negative rep....just stop! ive done nothing to you and im not out of line with this or the mods would have told me..

    Just food for thought.
I can understand the desire for perfection. Modifying a formed piece of plastic and patching it with a different material can only lead to imperfections regardless of the abilities of the person doing it.
From the looks of this project the cutting and fiberglassing takes the most work.
got_titan, I understand your position but why not try a quick do it yourself fix?
the time you spend packing it up and shipping it maybe better spent trying to fix it yourself. I can relate with the time restriction, but 30 minutes and $10 may prove to be worth while. Cmon give it a try and see how it comes out and post some pictures of your venture. I all else fails then send it back.

I personally want to tell you that I meant no hard feelings for anything that I have said towards you, and I can assure you I was not part of any neg. rep that has happened. I understand what you are saying and why you are upset. The only thing I have to say is when you say the quality of work you received was "normal" is not true at all. As you can tell from all of the other satoshi's that Aaron has done yours and 1 other have had the unfortunate fate of having some blemish problems. For Aaron to say that there might be some blemish problems once you receive your grille back is not "normal", so for you to tell have Aaron tell other people who want this mod done that it is "normal" is false. It looks like both affected parties have come to a consensus. I hope that everything gets fixed for you. Best of luck to ya.

i never thought it was normal and thats why i posted up, everyones perception is that its normal and that im causing problems here....i paid for a service and i really honestly expected it to be better....im also dissappointed in a lot of the peoples responses to this problem. I went through all the steps, contacting arron, asking tw members what i should do via a thread before i even posted up what i thought was NOT normal. I have been reasonable and all i have recieved is people badmouthing me, negative rep and people calling me names....i dont deserve that...i had a valid concern that i backed up with pics...this is an internet forum but good lord i thought we were all adults here? i havent been called names like this since grade school!

I "LOVE" Aaron as he is my half Chinese brother. However, if you've paid for something and was told or lead into the outcome/finished product. Thats how the product should've been presented upon arrival. This was before the new "DISCLAIMER" Aaron posted now.

I did plenty of BHLM and if it were to ever leak. I'd cover the expense to take care of my mistake or flaw. Thats just part of it if you're doing something like this.

I honestly think it would be a waste of time and money to ship it back to Aaron. You guys should just work out a $$$$$ settlement and fix it yourself. Aaron's a stand up guy and you'll get it resolved. These Satoshis are hard to do as its time consuming.

    Good Luck.

I can understand your frustration to a point.

That being said, I'm in the process of doing my own Satoshi and I have about 22hrs into it right now. If mine turns out half as good as yours, I'll be surprised...

got_titan, i get back to the states in July. I will be moving to Socal and looking for a new place to live so I will give you an address as soon as I get settled.
I paid $5K+ to Engage for a 4x4 LT kit that is yet to be complete and was full of flaws. I drove down a bunch of times on my own dime, got a bunch of stuff fixed on my own dime, but was never pissed. I have been waiting over a year for my CV axles, but i have not lost my patience. I guess it just depends on the customer. Engage is a relatively new forum based company and I knew that going in. However, if you did a BHLM for me and it leaked, I would personally drive down there and shove it up your ass :p

Lol just kidding my Peng You!

See Aaron. If I were you. I'd be irate after you were told by Engage that it was your fault everything all went loose on your LT. You haven't even taken it out yet. Then you've been 4x4 less for god knows how long? From what I've heard from you and other people about Engage. I think if I were to ever go LT. I'd just spent more $$$ with Camburg or Total Chaos until Engage gets it together.

If I ever did your BHLM and it leak. . .I'd give you a slow dance session with no boundaries to your song choice. :D

No offense blackhawke88, but if your color matching/painting chrome grills with aerosol spray paint cans from Home Depot, you will likely hear from more (unhappy) members than just got_titan.
This is just my honest opinion (in bodyshop biz for over 30 yrs, yeah, Im old :) )
    But hey, good luck~!

    Dude, your words, not mine:

"you mean color match your chrome grille to your factory body color? I can do that, but it will cost more because factory paint costs $19.99 for an aerosol can, unless you want to go with a Kragen color. "

I dont care what paint, adhesion promoter, primer you use....Paint doesnt stick to chrome. Yes, you could physically paint it....but it wont stick, and will peel.
    Just wait, you'll see.

I dont understand your argument anymore, are you still talking about homedepot rattle cans or paint in general?

The chrome grille is plastic... roughing it up with sandpaper will make it stick..
    or am I just confused?....
I'd love to get mine done... just dont want to drive around without a grille.. lol
I may check into one of those certifit deals though...
Glad to see everything was worked out..
Blackhawk has a great reputation around here... I know that and Im a total noob.. lol

you're right. Unlike our rear bumpers, which are chrome, our grille is just plastic that is painted with a chrome-like paint. Whether or not the chemical properties of the surfaces of our grilles and bumpers are the same, I am not sure, but the chrome grille surface scuffs up really easy with sanding and provides an adequate surface for painting.

Furthermore, all of the chrome bumpers I have helped paint so far have held up great. However, I cannot rule out the possibilities of problems in the future.

Back to the original concern of my using homedepot paint, I believe what you quoted me saying is me giving the customer a choice between factory BSP paint or kragen black paint to better suit his budget. Black is more or less a universal color, and, besides the pearling, some customers may wish to go with a generic black simply to get rid of the chrome. It's all up to the customer.

EDIT: PS, coolidge, if you would some how link me to where you got that quote, I can better understand the context in which I offered those choices. Thanks!
