I went to go pick up my AllPro leaf springs from a member on here back in January, and when I was driving home I was about to turn onto the freeway. It was raining so the conditions weren’t the best.

One moment I’m looking at the stoplight in front of me, next I see a Tundra careening towards me from the other side of the street.

It missed me by less than a foot and crashed into two cars behind me. If I left only a few seconds earlier, I would’ve been one of those cars. It was amazing how he managed to miss me, he went in between a sign post and my truck with inches to spare.

Everyone was fine, just shaken up. I’ll never forget the look on the Tundra driver’s face. I opened the door, took his seatbelt off, and instructed him to leave the cab but he just looked at me like he was shell shocked.

Your point of the road flares reminded me of this story. I kept a 5 pack in the toolbox and I activated then as soon as I came to my senses.

Police took my statement, and I went to go eat at some Mexican breakfast place afterwards. Never in my life has food tasted so good.

Yeah it was probably the most serious injury I've encountered, really proud of my little brother too, at 16 he handled it perfectly, didn't panic at all, stayed calm and just went to work helping, took an insanely long time for EMS to get there too, not their fault since we live in the middle of nowhere, but that's why you have to be prepared

For sure, even better that you came along and stopped to help or else who knows what might've happened to him if he had been left there too long unattended to.

I've never come across anything like that before, luckily I guess...but I like to think I'd be able to help if I did but I definitely need a better kit. Should probably buff up on my first aid skills too, haven't taken anything since I was a lifeguard as a teenager lol.

Just put this in my truck, I have a larger first aid kit too but this one is good for grabbing and going, has a gen 7 CAT TQ, Israeli bandage, gloves, trauma shears a roll of gauze and a sharpie, and moved my flares to the back of the seat

Yeah his truck wasn't making any noise like it was cooling off either so I think he had been there unconscious for a little while.
I need to buff up on my skills too, I'm up to date on first aid/cpr/aed stuff but I need to take an actual trauma class. Main thing I focused on was just making sure he was breathing, then getting him woken up and not moving him, and starting to question him to see how responsive he was and if he could still see and process stuff

What would this accomplish? I did the other side just fine without cranking it.

yeah, even basic knowledge such as keeping someone awake until help arrives can easily save a person's life, and may have saved his. Remaining or falling unconscious with a severe concussion (which I'm sure he had) can kill a person
