To the best of my knowledge [and others please feel free to correct me] the speedo/odo run off ONLY the wheel sensors. I recalibrated mine after going up in tire size. I also think that there is no need to recalibrate only for gear ratio.

As far as I can tell its spot on post regear, I believe all of that is set through the ABS Sensor. Only changing wheel size will have an effect

That doesn't sound correct based on everything I have read/seen. I used a hypertech speedo calibrator.

Thanks for the detailed info. I live at 6000 ft. 1-70 and overdrive with these trucks is just not gonna happen except on the downhills. The OV tune makes a big difference and truck will still pull 4th in the fast lane even with the tent on it but it would be nice to have more gearing for 5th and 6th. Toyota really blew the 5th gear ratio on these trucks.

Grears don’t impact speedo on our truck. As the OP mentioned, it’s the ABS Sensor.

Does hypertech spedo calibration works good? I have been thinking about it, but wasn't sure because people had mixed reviews online. Some of the people even said that they don't have the right tools for 3rd gens?

As far as I know it works, I plan to use it. My understanding is you only put in the tire size, if you had more info like gear ratio and such it messes all up

Can the same device be used for more than one truck or it has a single user license?

Well, the device gets mounted "in between" the dash cluster and the truck. So it's single use in the sense that if you take it out, the truck will revert to stock speed and tach ratios.

shameless self-promotion but an excellent install video in my opinion. I got mine off Amazon.

    Just ordered my 5.29 gears.
    Tire size is 285/75/16.
I will post up some info in a few weeks, once they are installed.

I will then be moving to 285/75/17 and will post reviews again.

I am a little worried about screaming RPMs, but as @JoeCOVA mentioned.... overdrive should save the day.

RPM aren't too bad. At 70 mph I was at 2200. Which I Don't think is too bad.

Are you auto or manual? Im on 285/75/17 manual trans. Either way, the more reviews the better. I’m about ready to drop some cash on gears.
