So whats a good brand for storing a pillow and sleeping bag inside the RTT? So far it looks like FSR and Tepui are ruled out

I have an extra 3 in memory foam topper in my Smittybilt Overlander, if I took that out I could fit a lot of bedding and pillows in there. I do have to lay on it for it to compress and don't have any more room for more than a fitted sheet.

I never had issues with a small pillow or two + down sleeping bag and a small blanket in my teupi ayer in the past. I definitely couldn't get it to close with a 2 person 0 degree bag however.

I'm going to go for just the extra padding and pack everything else outside. Just debating 2in or 3in ;-)

I was looking at getting a memory foam topper, but I was looking at 2", maybe I can still keep my bedding if I do that.

I store 3 sleeping bags and pillows in my Tepui Kukenam 4 almost permanently. I wouldn't rule out Tepui.

Keep in mind not everyones sleeping gear is the same. Some have very thick, dense pillows that won't compress as easily. Obviously that's not going to fit as well as a down pillow that is not as thick. Same goes for a 0* double sleeping bag being harder to fit than a 40* down filled bag. There's no hard and fast rule that covers everyone and every type of gear.

If I were to do it again, that is the route I would go.

i have a 0* double bag and i prefer hard big pillows.

dont base it off my personal experience. Would be silly to do so.

I have a 20* double synthetic down bag from Northface that stays in my Tepui Ayer full time. So far haven had any problems folding it down. At least none that I know of. well, one of the poles came out of the plastic holder but that can just be inserted back in. Have not tried folding it up with a pillow in there yet.

edit. I use the bungee that the tent comes with to hold my bag in place before folding. Im not sure what theyre actually used for though.

My tips for packing sleeping gear inside the tent. (the Tepui sheets and blankets are the best solution and fold up easily). But if you're a sleeping bag person, I've had the best luck folding bags over once and and spreading them out as much as possible on the roof side of the tent. Thick items like pillows I put near the hinge seam. There is more leverage on the outside edges of the tent when your closing it up and the hinge doesn't flex so it will compress thicker items better on that side.

this is exactly how i fold my big bag up. After laying on it for awhile to compress it further.

FSR is good. I guess just not the High Country. My m49 handled a sleeping bag and house pillow.

Now I have a Roofnest hardshell and just put in a wide flannel bag and pillow. No inside issues

I have a ARB tent. On recent trip the wife put 4 full size down pillows, a fleece blanket, a queen size down comforter, a sheet on the mattress and a 20 degree and 0 degree bag in side the tent. I lay everything out nice and even with zero issues. I always thought the cover was kinda big, but after loading all that crap in there I see why.
