Super quick and easy. I didn’t have clamps so I just held it in place with my fingers, I’ve been told I’m good with my fingers ;)so attempt at own risk. It all came out great.

Maybe pull the trim piece off and see what is going on? You will feel resistance with the locking feature of the nutplates.

I didn't have slick clamps like that, just a big quick clamp. As long as you get the first hole in the right spot (my typical problem. Hahaha!) and thread in the pin, the rest are self-aligning.

I use three needle nose vice grips with duct tape over the top jaw so it didn't scratch the paint

Maybe put a drop of Blue locktite on the threads and then tighten it down.

Hey man sorry to hear your having this issue, there's a couple of things that could be causing that but none of them are un-fixable, if I'm not mistaken you have a V1 DDMM, are you using the long silver bushing with the ball mount?
or do you have the new kind (gold) flanged bushing?
I had some problems with the silver bushings being just a tad longer than the stem of the ball mount, just enough to keep the screw from gripping the ball so it would spin, if thats the case you can just sand down one end of that bushing. Either way let me know and we'll figure it out

I have to admit the first maxi"CAN" comment didn't really ring a bell before this, it makes SOOO much sense now... haha

    AGREED
I used to have the x-grip from RAM...
The Arkon has, in my opinion, a few advantages....
    1. Can be easily operated with ONE HAND
    2. Looks better
    3. Can hold a wider variety of devices
    4. Stronger / more secure grip.
    5. If you choose the swivel joint, you can change the device orientation(portrait-landscape) easily with ONE HAND

I think I should make a video about this.... its much easier to show than it is to describe

I do not doubt your facts, other than looks which are always subjective and I'm weird. Haha! Yeah, I like the looks of the X Grip. Gawdy sticker removed obviously.

I never experienced a security problem and mine have seen all the weather on the motorcycles, parked outside and ridden offroad.

I've used mine with a Galaxy S3, a Note 3, a Pixel XL, a Pixel 3 XL, and a Baofeng. Never lacking there? It might have held a BB Bold also?

    Just giving my view.

I am going to ship a bunch of orders tomorrow. I’m almost certain yours will be in that batch. Worst case scenario by Thursday.

Since I started this little project I’ve been experimenting with a few different finishes on the top plate of the DMM, I tried a couple different types of paint and even anodizing. Some of them came out better than others but I’m happy to announce that all new DMM orders (and even some of the last few orders) now have a super durable black powder coat finish.
    I hope you like it.

Not that anyone would ever do this but here's what you CAN do with a DMM...

I've come close to this. 2 phone (mine and my wifes), tablet (for the wife/toddler to watch movies on), and a mirror (to see the toddler in the back seat). It worked well for the 3 hour trip. Setup was phone > mirror > tablet > phone. Worked out well IMO.
