I'll leave those shenanigans for you younger members. Most of us over 55 guys have already had our turn.

The lift, aka suspension upgrade is just something I wanted to get done right away because I plan on keeping the truck till it rusts apart. Yes, I will go off road with it but larger tires are not as crucial as proper training and the correct suspension.

Full trd pro suspension. Toytec progressive add-a-leaf pack (with overload in). Sema trd 4runner rims. 285 70 17 ridge grapplers. Satoshi grill.
Looks good. Curious to know what your mpg end up being. For comparison to the LT tires.

In 265/70r17 I don't think so, only E and C range. There is a 265/65r17 though and that might be an SL

I’m curious too. I’m only on the second full tank of gas with the tires on so I’ll keep you updated for sure.

37 pages and not a single person running these in 265/65R17. I'm fully aware 'you don't know what you don't' know' so if the informed would be so kind as to enlighten the uninformed as to what I'm missing, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm simply looking for a trail capable tire (rock, clay, gravel) that I can slap on my OEM rims that won't rub, and won't necessitate a lift. I'm also willing to purchase rims (preferably Yota OEM) if it helps the cause, but I'm out of my element here.

265/65/R17 vs 265/70R17 What is the real life difference? Are folks going to the 70 just because they can? I don't think I want to fill up the wheel well unless there's a good reason.

    Much TIA.

Saw they now offer a standard load in 265/70r17 and 285/70r17. Specs on the sight say only 48.7 pounds per tire for the 285’s. Is anyone running them yet in the standard load.

Yea, that's a considerable difference. I guess if that tire serves the purpose it's definitely the way to go.

Yea, big difference no doubt, and to put in in perspective, friggin' 17+ lbs heavier than the 265/65R17 116Q XL. (although, your sacrificing tread depth as well with the 65)

Decisions, decisions. I'm having the damnedest time making one..

It is weird though. So both tires are the same diameter and the E range has deeper tread which equates to less rubber, and if you ask a Nitto rep they'll tell you they use the same compounds and same amount of plys in both tires, that they are just laid out differently. Yet here we are with the 285 E and the 285 ? Unrated ? Yet if you look at the C rated 285 specs it lists two weight ranges, and two speed ratings so it's like they are listing the specs for that mystery tire with the C.

It's all very confusing. That's for damn sure. Oh, I checked my tread depth the other day. I'm still at 14/32s. LOLOLOLOL

It's scrambling my brain. Some of it's got to boil down to simple BS.

I believe you're in the pool business, as I was (on the retail side) for 20 years. We once had pool pump company (one you'd almost certainly know by name) that to meet a certain price-point, would ship us pumps with three HP rating stickers, advising us to simply pick which HP we'd like them to be, and pull off stickers accordingly.

Problematic for guys replacing impellers down the road, but a fact, nonetheless.

I’m running 4 inch Maxtrac spindles with stock upper control arms and 3rd gen off-road shocks which added like an inch of lift. I took off the mud flaps even that little one in the front. I don’t really rub on the cab mount unless I really turn up the drive way fast but I haven’t tried it haha. I haven’t trimmed any plastic. And thanks for the compliment man I’m really liking how it looks. Spindle lifts FTW for prerunners.

So I’v done like three tanks of gas with the new tires and lift and my mpgs essentially stayed the same. I was getting between 17-18 mpg before the lift and I’m still getting around that. I’m using my gps to calculate my mileage as it’s a 1.07 increase from my stock 265/70/16s. I’ll let you know how the tread wear is after a couple more miles.
