Speaking from experience, I drove a Ridgeline for 9 years and absolutely loved it. It rode good, drove good, pulled my trailer with my Gator pretty good. Went in Snow better than any truck I have ever had and I’ve had all but Chevys. I was very excited when the new Ridgeline came out until I actually saw one and I thought it was the ugliest thing I’ve seen. No clearance what so ever. Long story short bought my Tacoma. Still like things about the Ridgeline better but I do really like my Tacoma. By the way I gave the Ridgeline to my son...

I agree. I absolutely would have considered the Ridgeline more if it wasn't so unattractive. But now that I own a Tacoma, I"m glad I didn't because even though it'll hardly ever do any serious offroading, I like that I do have a vehicle more capable to do that than if I got the RL. So it being ugly made my choice more betterer.

I've had a few Honda motorcycles and when they first floated the RL idea I was pumped. What could be better than Honda building a truck? Meh. I would buy all three of my Tacomas again before a RL. Maybe when I'm old and down to one vehicle for both of us.

You gave the ridgeline to your son? Your publically admitting guilt of abuse ... good luck lol

No, I get that and agree that a great many people use a truck more like a car. I see tons of full size trucks around here that clearly haven't done much "truck" work in their lives. 90% of the time I don't either, but bought this for the other 10% and it drives well enough for the other 90%. As I said, I think as a car with a bed, the ridgeline has a good set of features and AWD makes more sense than 4x4 for that crowd too. What I think is stupid is comparing a car with a bed to a truck. Although I get that Honda wants to be seen as a truck with car features rather than a car with a bed.

Maybe, but you are not the target audience. AWD is going to serve most people much better than 4x4 in vehicles like a Jeep Liberty, Nissan Armada, Lexus, etc. Maybe that's were full time 4WD is the ticket.

Funny, I don't know if you are reading your own posts. Obviously, I AM the target audience, hence the traditional PT 4WD systems being available in those models you listed!

By the way, the Nissan Armada has an "Auto 4WD" aka AWD system. And I don't know of a Lexus that has a PT 4WD.

But I do agree a good AWD system would be good for the majority of the buyers.

Trucks are extremely versatile do it all vehicles, thus why they sell great, don't really view them as having a singular intended purpose.

I was going to trade my CR-V in on a Ridgeline about a month ago but I could not afford the $230 a month bank note so I got a '19 SR, 2wd access cab instead for $144.00 a month. :) Toyota dealer gave me $23,000 for my '18 CR-V.

I literally said exactly that above. That doesn't change the fact the Ridgeline is less capable than the true pickups on the market doing most truck things.

Holy shit the butthurt on this one. Frankly, I give exactly zero fucks if you like it or want to buy one but that's exaclty my experience with one. It was shit for real truck stuff and good for family, never sees dirt stuff.

Haha your “experience” which was what a coworker told you about towing a boat. Sounds like you are a true expert.

yeah dude haven't you heard - coworker is more credible than you who have personally used the RL for towing many times or an IRL towing review video

If the RL looked like the Tacoma, and the Tacoma looked like the RL, this thread would be very different. The only inherent thing wrong with the RL is that it is too ugly. I have some time in the first gen RL and really liked it, i'm sure the second gen is even better, but it looks terrible. The first gen atleast looked good.

If the Ridgeline came in extended cab 4x4 stick for under 27k (like my taco) and the tacoma was only DCSB auto, I'd be on a Honda forum right now lol.

Why would you think your Tacoma would be getting stuck in snow, is it 4x2 or have summer tires?
