I follow the placard during warm weather and add a pound or 2 in the cold with stock sized Wildpeaks.

basically u can mess around with the tire pressures to suit your needs, I ran 35psi before lowering it to 32psi the handling, ride comfort a wear for me was perfect. some people will run 33-34psi fronts and 32psi rears for getting better mpgs its what u feel comfortable running, but I agree the door jam recommendations seem too low for me.

The engineers at Toyota come up with the recommended pressures for a reason, same guys that come up with the oil change intervals and other maintenance requirements, no reason not to trust them.

I recall my previous Tacoma's taking different pressures front and rear, at least this one is the same.

PSI is a means to an end...

The stock tire placard requires whatever PSI is required to attain a 2,149 lb load rating from a P-metric or ISO/ETRTO-metric tire.
The SR, SR5,and Sport use a P-metric; the Offroad uses a ISO/ETRO metric

    SR/SR5-P245/75/16 109SL @ 32psi=2,172 lb
    Offroad-265/70/16 112SL @ 30psi=2,149 lb
    Sport-P265/65/17 110SL @ 29psi=2,149 lb

If you go to an LT the load requirement is reduced by a factor of 1.1...2,149/1.1=1,954 lbs.

they take into account that the tire will heat up and in turn it raises the tires PSI higher, when I run my tires at 32psi COLD and take a drive they will heat up and the pressure rises to 34-35psi when HOT

That is correct, you are always supposed to adjust your pressure when cold.

I don't know what this last bit means. Are you saying that for every 1.1 psi the load rating is actually reduced? Seems opposite of what I was thinking?

yes that's why I came up with 32psi cold because they heat up to 34-35psi and that works for me
