Although I will say that if this magnuson supercharger really does come out next year and the HP/TQ are significant....I will be in the market for a new CAI.

Never been a fan of aftermarket CAI on natural aspirated vehicles...

That’s amazing, I’m pretty much sold the only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s an oiled filter but I think I’m going to do it anyways.

How many miles is your truck at now? Still no codes? Also is it louder or pretty much the same?

Was this install pretty much plug and play for you? Have you been able to measure any true increases in MAF after installing this?

I think anymore, with Toyota and Subaru at least.... These air boxes are designed pretty dang well. Spending $$$ on a new intake that nets you a very small boost in perfomance seems silly. Plus...without a tune, it's not going to do much

    But, to each their own

Plug and play...no measurements. I just felt this was a better route than replacing the OEM CAI. But like I said before a supercharger would Change my setup.

yes, yes, a supercharger will change a lot of setups indeed ;) just wasn't sure if this airflow accelerator alone was worth the effort. visually I can see how it would somewhat reduce restriction and likely falls in the "couldn't hurt" category

Hey, if it works, it works!

The most important piece to this is that YOU are happy with your purchase.

Scruntch (technical term) the Intake Flow Accelerator so it looks like this. Place the Intake Flow Accelerator in the hole in the fender with the thin slot facing up.

I towed a 26 foot camper with my truck. 5000 pounds loaded. I was in 3rd gear at nearly 3800 rpm when at hwy speed (55). I installed a k&n cold air intake to see if it'd help. It's not all hype! My truck now ran in 4th at 2600 rpm at 55 mph. My truck is an automatic so I had to use auto stick to ensure this was correct for both situations. It was. It truely helped that much. I felt much better, for my trucks sake, running in one higher gear at 1200 rpm less, and all because of an intake kit. Take this for what you will, but I believe they work. It may not add the claimed hp at the crank, but it sure made what it has, more usable.

Exactly make it better. Like Toyota should have. They should have some real dealer installed options, for guys that want to love their truck. And, powder coat the damn frame.

Anyone know about the intake resonator that is on these trucks? Is there a way to remove them? I've heard about them, but never really looked into it very much. I'd like to have a little more sound out of it, and prefer not to go aftermarket on the intake. Trying to keep the truck as much Toyota as possible.

Get the TRD pro intake then. Removing the stock resonator will actually hinder your airflow as its designed to optimize turbulent air flow. Its fluid dynamics!

    1. To increase air flow by dampening harmonic reflections due to air flow being suddenly cut off (on the falling edge of each pump cycle), which cause the air mass to bounce back and create back pressure that interferes with the next pump cycle.
    2. To dampen the sound produced by the intake (i.e. to dampen pressure changes that find their way out of the tube; not sure what path they usually take though, could be intake side, exhaust side, or through the tube walls, I don't know how it works).

8E67E856-9A8C-4FC2-A849-D142C97C4015.jpg In my experience. Removing the stock with baffle lessened the sound, now I only hear the TRD exhaust from the back and not the engine noises as much. Which I thought was a little funny/odd.

I have always felt that aftermarket cold air intakes are for vehicles that stay on road and have factory breathing problems.

Think low end on road Japanese hatchbacks built before 2000.

Most performance cars already have one, arent designed for one, or are better off without one.

If your truck sees any dusty, dirty or muddy conditions, then you factory setup is probably better than aftermarket
