i keep going back n forth selling my Kukenam for a hard top

 

would you consider a trade: my chandlerdoom tent for your kukenam? I don't want to get rid of it but I hate having it mounted on my cabrack ... just an idea i haven't fully thought through yet though

or if you just wanna check it out and see how you fit in there, you can at bald mountain next month.

I am still looking for a small hard shell roof top tent for the rack on my truck. I am building an overland/camping trailer so I put my Overlander XL on it, and now I want something smaller and more permanent for my truck.
I wished interest on the chandlerdoom tents would reach the needed numbers to get that group buy revived again, but it doesn't look good. I have been looking at the Roofnest Sparrow and Tepui HyBox, there is also a Bigfoot for sale locally.

 

Come to east coast. I know @ecliff5 and @dziner are selling their chandlerdoom tents. I should have bought from them.

 

I wished I could make the trip, wished I could have one shipped at a reasonable rate.

 

A friend just paid $600 to ship a Civic from Phoenix to me.. maybe shipping isnt that ridiculous. Or find a TW Express? I know @Coot83 is moving to AZ in 3 weeks

 

I love the sheets for warm weather. Some light covering when it's too warm to sleep in a bag. The flannel sheets and a warm blanket (or two) in the cold is nice. I dig it.

 

There is a "work around" for there not being a Explorer Series version of the Kukenam XL. Since Tepui sells extra/replacement canopies you could purchase just the Ruggedized XL canopy. There is an Explorer Series base available in the XL size that can be purchased, Retail is $915 for the base. The base "kit" will include the full base/frame, ladder, mounting tracks/hardware, mattress, travel cover. Then you could just put the Ruggedized canopy on it (or even a Baja series). The Ruggedized XL canopy retails for $960. The Baja Series retails for $785. So instead of $2475 for the typical Ruggedized Kukenam XL, you'd be looking at $1875 for a Explorer Base with Ruggedized canopy or $1700 for the Explorer Base and Baja Canopy. That does not include shipping or taxes if in CA.

the base kit is great! Its what i did for my damaged base and really made my tent essentially brand new!

Would highly recommend.

 

why so anti tent?

 

Not necessarily anti-tent. I've had this RTT on my truck since December. It's gotten a lot of use. I'm moving on to something new. I have a ground tent, sleeping platform, and hammock too.

 

That’s a really great idea- but one thing I like is the 20% deal from REI which should be coming up soon.
