This to me is hilarious

Went and dropped off truck for blower motor recall. Waiting for my ride home and saw this Corolla base model nothing special till you look at the costs and there is a charge of 395 dollars for special color. As you see from the picture it's just white . Nothing special . Just thought it was funny what they charge for .

Three stage paint. I have it on my RAV4.

 

It's because it's blizzard. They add clear coat as an extra step. Superwhite gets no clear, therefore cheaper to produce. It has nothing to do with exclusivity.

 

Wrong. Super white gets cleared. This is Tri-coat aka 3 stage paint.

 

Not as a second step. It's been debated many times on here.

 

“Special Color” is what got me.

 

Depends who applies it. I'm aware how Toyota does it.

 

Apparently you're not. There is a screenshot floating around from Toyota corporate staying otherwise.

VW charges something like $2500 for their 30 odd "special" colors for the Golf R. So $395 is a bargain!

That's why I say as a finance/accounting guy "always get the bill itemized". You'd be amazed the stuff companies try to tack on sometimes.

 

$395 for a real clearcoat. Id pay for that.

 

I want a cloudy coat.

Meh, the damn thing will probably outlast my truck if properly maintained.
