They were only on early iterations of the 3rd generation as far as I know. Not all of them had it.

i'll just have to figure it out. do you happen to have the switch? and see if theres a part number on the bottom of the mirror or in the mount.

It's a power folding mirror switch off a Land Cruiser Prado IIRC. I couldn't find one for sale in the US on eBay, I had to order from Japan. Newer Limited Tundras/Sequoias use the same switch.

They're damn expensive new, but there are cheaper ones (albeit used and/or knockoff). https://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-OE...0:g:p24AAOSw64tblJiK:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true

Or you can wire it to the Defrost switch like it is stock on 4Runners.

Yup. I think that's usually how it is stock on most cars. I changed the sideview mirror on my buddy's 2015 Nissan 370z and the replacement mirror had heating elements in it, unlike the other one. Turned on with the defroster. Same for my Merc E320.

I don't really like that though, I want to be able to control it independently of the defroster.

Well. My truck will never see snow again. Sooo I don’t really need it. But more features. If I’m turning it into a street queen. I’ll be damned if I don’t have all the fancy gadgets of the early 2000s.. lol

I ordered the "non painting" ones, which I suggest you don't do. I was thinking they would be black plastic, but they were white plastic. You should get ones that are painted, even if you are going to paint them another color. You should be able to get Toyota black though, which should be a close match to your truck.

And yes that is the exact "auction" that I purchased, even though they show the older style mirror, they are the 99-02 4runner and 01-04 tacoma style.

Heated mirrors started in 99 limited models. After that all 3rd gen 4runners got heated mirrors (until 2002 of course). If you are looking at eBay auctions, the wiring plug should have 5 wires instead of 3.

96-98 mirrors are physically shaped differently and did not come with heaters.

Hey guys, I'm trying to wire in a new headlight switch, but can't get the old switch de-pinned. Can someone give me some insight on how to get them free? I can't seem to make out where the release is, but I've tried prying up and pushing down, neither of which will release the pin. Please help.

Doesn’t beat the 2001-2004 Tacoma center console, haha.

That connector will most likely have a retaining clip on either side of the housing. I’ve depinned my fair share of connectors, and bigger connectors usually require you pulling up on a retainer and then releasing the pin from the friction lock.

Do you have a depinning tool? It helps a lot.

You really like that upper portion of the 4Runner console huh.

Aren’t the 01-04 consoles bigger in terms of storage capacity?

Does the runner console have the little space under the arm rest too?

I can describe better if needed.
