Quite a few new mechanical engineers are the same way as well. Don't realize the cost of,machining and or the ability to make parts

I’ve had to go back and fix some engineers blunders. “Oh we calculated only a half inch of deflection over 50’ not and inch and a half for that connection... but we forgot the other 10t these moments have to support... whoops.

They’ve only “built” them in a computer model. Not really the same lol

For sure. We COULD have built it for the guy, as we did have a steam box that would have been big enough to accommodate the dimensional lumber he wanted to use. But it would have required that we steam bend so much lumber that it would have cost him a TON more than just going with the more traditional arch we built for him instead. If I remember right he wanted us to use 8x8 columns with 180 degrees of twist from top to bottom, crossbeams with an upward curve, and all of the roofing surface lumber would have to be bent to match. And steaming a hardwood 8x8 to make it flexible enough to take that sort of twist takes FOREVER

People underestimate software all the time. The amount of time and effort that goes into even small websites or programs is mind boggling. And the cost haha

I always have people asking for a website or an app, but they want to pay like a few hundred bucks max...

Guess who has a rounded front door going in....

At least she isn't insisting we do a steam bended one..:frusty:

This is what my builder says all the time. If someone is serious about being a good designer they need to work at least a year building things and understanding some of the real life constraints that are faced.

This guy had regular french doors out onto his deck. But for some reason he decided he wanted some sort of Art Nouveau arch over it, even though he had a traditional square house, square doors, square deck, etc.

Trying to apply to Northeastern for graduate school as I went there for my undergrad... the transcript they provide is too large for their document uploader for their graduate application process and I don't have the software to reduce the size of it. Just fucking awesome.

That sucks, but pretty damn ironic/funny. Their uploader can't handle the size of their own transcript. I imagine you aren't the first undergrad from there to apply to their grad program either haha.

It's the f'ing internet. I can cruise around here all day and get tons of good ideas that piss my builder off. Non-stop encouragement from people too, and all of them have no idea what they are talking about.

*not an attack on people here, just an observation from a million googles and reading so many contradicting articles and blogs.

They know the level of education they provided you and know you don't qualify, they are just saving time :boink:

Obviously it's a great school, sounds like they had a communications issue somewhere along the lines (or maybe lack of communication). I wonder if reaching out to them and informing them will make them like your attention to detail and commitment to fixing a problem...or think you are an annoying bastard who will always be giving them issues:confused:
