Looking @ these 2 caps/campers/toppers. Any pros or cons to either one like:
    Price?
    Quality?
    Warranty?
    Thanks!

I got a quote for $1,599 for the ARE V
$1,699 for ARE CX (free install)
    $1,699 for LEER R
$1,899 for LEER XR (free install)
These are bone stock plus $200 install and tax.

Don’t get the V series, on a second gen the v series doesn’t completely cover the side rails. I would go with the CX, I had two and never had any issues on mine.

I’ve have various camper shells on all my trucks over the years. In general I’ll just say that Leer is the best quality of all I’ve owned. Never any problems, never any leaks, and the paint looks as good as new after 5 plus years. In other brands I’ve had leaks and paint deterioration after 4 or 5 years.

I was quoted, for the ARE CX:
    windoors for $100 each side
vented windoors $350 for both sides.
I'd REALLY like to get the ARE CX w/vented windoors but $2,049 is just not gonna happen for a shell. :bananadead:

Are you going to be sleeping in the bed? I would think just windoors would be nice, I wouldn’t care about them venting.

Gotcha, I assumed you couldn’t with the shortbed. You’d probably want vented windows/windoors then.

I'm 5'9" but have slept in much worse places than a bed of an enclosed truck bed!

My 100r is on the way for my short bed taco. I think it was $1250 plus tax and a $79 install. I went with carpet on the inside. It was a choice of carpet, a sliding rear window or $50 off the price.

Any other options for the cap or just the carpet?

I got the CX. No experience with Leer. I like it. I will say there are a few minor flaws in the paint...if I had to complain about something. From 5 feet no problem at all.
Up close it’s not 100% perfect. Neither cap is cheap.

That was the only 3 he gave me. You can upgrade it to flip up side windows, a utility rack on top etc but I just need something to carry my surf fishing stuff to the beach and keep it dry.

No I just meant is that the only option you chose? What kind of front window do you have? I’m trying to gauge pricing, although I want the 100r with vented windoors.

Where are you located? That price seems really good!

My bad. It does not have vented side windows and the front window flips down for cleaning and the rear hatch just has the 2 lock turn handles. It’s pretty basic. Painted to match but basic. With carpet inside.
