I am trying to determine if this thing will work for me. I've emailed the company through the website repeated to no avail, and I just don't have the chance during regular business hours to call. I'd actually kind of prefer to get this information from owners anyway.

What I'm looking for is the length and width of the opening, along with the interior clear height with the door closed. I am trying to mount something specific inside it but I need to know these dimensions prior to purchase in order to see if it will work for me or not.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing you want to mount something specific like a holster maybe?

Hmmm.... I'm guessing you mean from this link:

If you have emailed them several times and haven't gotten a response (and don't want to call) - why buy from them?

Will get the measurements later today and post later or tomorrow.

Great product and great customer service, call them and ask for forum discount, if still available.

Here you go...The opening is 6 1/2" long by 5 1/8 wide. It is only 5" deep because you lose 1 1/4" due to the lid. The lid is is like an upside down tray so you gain back about an inch in height but the opening length (from the back) is only 5" due to the locking mechanism protruding down, in the front part pf the lid.
    I hope this helps.

I've ordered one. It looks like a good way to slow down a thief. I wish they made one for the little rear console in my access cab.

thanks guys, got the information I needed. I think I'm going to wind up ordering one anyway, even though I don't think my original plan for how to secure a pistol inside it will work, but I may be able to still make something work.

I have one of these: http://consolevault.com/indexInner.html?p=49

Installed in an '09 DC. It is a great vault.. it is however a LITTLE shallow. So if you have something large like a Beretta 92, it won't fit. I have an HK Compact .40 in a holster that fits.. but you do have to lay it on the slide side.. not muzzle down position.

I'm hoping to rig up a way to get a Glock 26 in there muzzle-down, or some approximation thereof, in a holster strapped to the inside of the vault.

One thing I don't like about the CV is that you actually lose a ton of capacity with the lips facing fore and aft as well as the lid being lower. I wish they took better advantage of the available space.

An H&K USP Compact .40 is not a 'long' gun.. and it does not come close to fitting muzzle down.. even without a holster. I can't even fit my FN FiveseveN inside the container in any orientation.

According to HK the USP Compact is 6.81" OAL, while according to Glock the 26 is 6.29" OAL. I have stuck my Glock 19 in the console without the vault and it fits vertically up against the left side of the vault and the lid can close. According to Glock the 19 has a slide OAL of 6.85".

Not sure if HK is measuring OAL as slide only the way Glock does or actual OAL from butt to muzzle.

How different are the 26 and the 23 in OAL?

I can check to see if my 23 fits in the CV when I get home, if that will help you ....

I normally just carry the LCP in the CV. :D

23 is the same length as the 19, so just a shade over 1/2" longer than the 26.

I guess it depends on what your definition of 'fits' is....

Here's a couple of pics from a post on TN that shows that a 1911 "fits"

    http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2573963&postcount=29

(The pics show the lip at the front of the CV...it has the green felt dots on there so the lid doesn't bang closed. :) )

I am not at home to test mine but one of the other posters said that the 23 will fit fine. I don't carry mine in there but I do know that I can get it in the CV...the question is how quickly can it be pulled out.

In another thread on TN there is a list of what will 'fit'...the 26 will fit lying on it side.

I can fit a G33 in mine inside of a small pistol rug. It's a little cramped in there but it works.
