I had a Honda CB750 with full-dress faring/stereo etc. and a Honda 250 dirt bike-both obviously 4-stroke. But I had a lawn mower that was 2-stroke and required the mix. This thing had a throttle that reacted according to load-what...centrifugal or something? Anyway that mower cut through the tallest, toughest stuff that regular 4-strokers would get killed with.

i was in HS as a freshman the year Texas raised the age from 18 to 21. so much drama with the seniors when they can drink one day and not the next.

that day was a true shit show with most of the upper classmen. seemed about 1/4 of the HS came to school hung over the day the law changed.

"Like how did you just get a blank CD and put songs on it?"

Little Generation Z her probably doesn't know what a Staples is either. No sorcery here, you just buy a roll of CD's and burn anything you want on it as long as it doesn't exceed 700mb or so.

Moot point for me, since I'm allergic to Beer, and I never drank because of my job. Over-the-road truck drivers get random drug and alcohol screenings. Plus, I can't STAND the taste of Alcohol!

Me neither! This is something I never readily admitted for some reason. To me beer is too bitter. It causes a rejection reaction in my face that I just could never enjoy it. Yeah I would drink when I was younger to be part of it all, but I never aquired a taste for it. Wine sucks too. All of it, no matter how "fruity" it tastes. The only drink I sort of liked was the Black Russian. Maybe brandy too.
But because of all this I never drank.
I have a permanent DVT blood clot in my upper-right subclavian that even goes near my neck and heart. The collateral vein network that developed as a result causes chronic, often severe pain especially at night so I'm on a daily regimen of 7.5 Vicodin and anti-inflamers. Couldn't imagine what it would be like to be drinking on top of all this.

So I went to this in the summer of 1981 just before I turned 15. Changed me forever.

There were no girls then. The program has clearly evolved a bit too. I bet some of the gritty crass stuff I heard is now verboten. But from reading kid's testimonials, I can see the outcomes are still solid and echo my experience.

They don't seem to have footage of the assault courses, rappelling, land navigation, or tear gas chamber. Or the company-wide distribution of laxative on the second day. Or the wall-less shitters.

Ah, just found the tower jump. Nobody forgets this. Great practice for jumping off a sinking ship, too.

Beginning to think this sort of thing should be mandatory for large swath of our so-called society.

Anyone else attend? More of a west coast deal: California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah.

They have a local police run boot camp that runs for a week here. I did that. It was great. We were introduced to local Leo's from different agencies. Definitely a real eye opener for impressionable youth. It is definetly not as intense as teufel hunden for sure.

Drinking age was 18 when I was younger, but my friends and I started earlier.

Can remember a few times cutting school and playing pool in a local bar at 16.

    Nobody seemed to care.

Can also remember being out drinking in the early hours of the morning and being pulled over by the police. I distinctly remember being told to drive home and park the car. The whole attitude about drinking was so much different back then.

I am an occasional social drinker these days, and absolutely won't drink if I will be driving. Just more aware of the reasons it's a bad idea, and the economic consequences are huge for a DUI..
