What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I thought 4Runners were basically Hilux Surfs? Well at least the early ones anyway.

Edit: I just looked up LC Prado, the newer ones look more like the Highlander platform than T4R.

 

I was under the impression the modern international equivalent of the 4Runner is the Toyota Fortuner. I rode in a Turbodiesel Fortuner when I was in the Philippines, Land Cruisers are completely different vehicles.

 

The Fortuner looks like a beefed up Rav4 to me but probably not the same chassis. Maybe Lexus RX? If you look up the current generation Hilux Surf it looks just like a 5gen T4R.

 

That’s a beefed up RAV4? It’s massive. An absolute unit.

The Turbodiesel engine is a nice touch.

 

Oh I don't know, just saying what it looks like to me. Probably not. Rav4s & Highlanders are much bigger than what they used to be. Highlanders used to be small like Rav4s.

But the LC Prado looks more like a Highlander than a T4R.

 

Battery in the chauffeur’s keys died, so we stopped by the local Toyota dealership to change it out.

Some of the cars are fairly similar to USDM models.

 

I dunno, modern Hiluxs look so ugly to me. They remind me of Chevy Colorados. Hilux only looked good to me pre late 80s. Anything later just looks weird IMO.

 

They’re reaaallly cheap though. That’s the TRD Pro equivalent of the Hilux, and it’s only about $30k.

 

Probably better built than the turd gen Tacomas too.

Can anyone hear the noise? Starts at about 10 seconds when I shift from neutral to drive.

Sounds like a knock

 

Mine makes pretty much the same noise. Been doing it for the past year and a half. Not sure what it is.
Is this your 99' or 02'?

 

02, my 99 has never done it.

I guess its got to by something in the tranny.

Mines been doing it since I got it so I'm sure it did it before.

 

Yeah I think its something in the transmission too. I want to say maybe flexplate related, but not sure.

It's been bugging me since I got the truck, wish I knew exactly what was causing it. Maybe someone smart will chime in

 

Anyone tried out the wheelers rear shock relocation kit?

Sticks it out of the frame beside the tires, due to my oba and horns I have no room for the normal under bed relocate.

Inner boots came in... as well as my adjustable lifting shackles.

Starting to develop another pile of shit to do to the truck.

 

I've never seen a Wheelers kit either, only the TC one. Need to run wheel spacers with that setup though.

 

Looks, sure. But Highlander is unibody and is based off the Camry platform. I'm talking about actual build and details of build, not looks. But it's all good.
