Nah not a full restoration, just get the interior back to what it looked like, new paint and clean everything up. I'm getting rims next and holding off on everything major for a bit

Nice. My first car was a 84 toyota pick up extended cab fuel injected 5spd. Had a 22RE. Never realized how "top of the line" it was.

Always had overheating issues in the AZ summer in stop and go traffic. I'm not sure if the 22RE runs hotter, but may want to look into a multi core radiator.

nothing worse than 120 outside with the heater on to cool the engine.

Went with bronze as it'll pop with the black paint (even if it's shitty paint ha) I'll post up in my build and Instagram when it's all said and done. Hoping next week :fingerscrossed:

Nice man! Yeah I just spent the last week replacing shit and getting the cooling system all dialed in. should be good to go. I've definitely had to do that before with the Tacoma.. sand drags during the summer.. with the heat blasting. lol

hell yeah! that'll look awesome man! I was pretty much sold on Bronze for mine too.. but after putting on my Arizona Historical plate.. and seeing the copper.. I think I'm going with polished lips and Copper Mesh.

    I miss my 1989 Toyota 4x2 22r everyday.
73D497DA-621D-4B34-8980-0A17EDB87273.jpg It had a four speed manual and would light up the tires. My pops had a 1987 Toyota 4x2 automatic with Overdrive and was a dog.
The gas mileage was terrible for a four cylinder. I got 14-17 mpg. It was a 4-speed so at 90mph you’re gonna burn gas. If I ever get divorced I’ll be restoring a ‘89.
    Looks awesome buddy!

It was $6,200 brand new on the showroom floor.. Don’t judge the graphics. That was frigging stylish at the time.

    killer truck man!! super nostalgic.

This little 86 5 speed gets decent mileage actually. last tank I checked I was at like 25ish.

I appreciate it. hoping to finish up this cooling system refresh and then do the rear 4" block and get to cruisin again!

next up will be finishing my wheels and doing the custom center exit exhaust.
