Not sure. Do you have traffic? My commute is without traffic.

Dude, you're literally the most negative person on this site since smitty. Just sell your truck if you hate it that much. Every single post is a complaint. Have you ever offered anyone help on this site, or are you just here to complain?

I got 18.5 today on an 80 mile all freeway trip going 75. Tried like the devil to get good mileage. I only have a 1” front lift, oem tires, not a ton of elevation change. Got 22 on the way home.

I do believe that these trucks can act drastically different each time you step in it.

18.5 MPG driving in the city with lots of traffic and traffic lights, not going faster than 35mph. I've reached 23.3MPG coming back from Sacramento to LA on cruise control between 70MPH to 75MPH. I have the 4x4 which in theory is supposed to get worse MPG than the only 2 wheel drive.

Never said don't trust Fuelly, I said that most of those people drive normal, not efficient.

The last vehicle that I owned where I had to hold the pedal to the floor as frequently as this Truck was a 1973 Baja Bug with 31" tires 30 years ago. That being said the gas mileage is pretty darn good, tankfulls are usually 20 - 22.

oh okay that makes much more sense. Maybe if the roads were completely empty I could hold consistient speeds but with heavy traffic its harder. It seems dishonest to claim high MPG if you only drive in empty roads though...that seems unfair as everyone is looking at real-world conditions with traffic.

It's real world for me, lol. How are you calculating? The dash is never correct. I always do the math at fill up.

I'll try and do the math next tank, I just look at the dash since I have stock wheel/tire and the truck is basically brand new

But wouldnt the higher gas price cancel out the benefit of saving money on low MPGs?

I have stock sized tires on my truck and the dash is actually quite accurate, any time I have hand calculated it pretty much matches up with the dash.

Just read what people are posting. You drive 2 miles.... during the 2 mile drive you are stopping and starting. Thus 17-18 mpg. Week days I commute 25ish miles one way in Bay area traffic. I average about 22-23 mpg. This type of driving is complete stop to 50 mph I stay in the slow lane and leave big gaps to roll in. On the weekend however when im running errands going to stores that are close to home I get 18-19mpg. Just pay attention and you'll see this is true for everyone.
Compare a short trip with multiple stops to a long trip with sustained speeds.

My obersvation on mileage with my stock 2018 TRD OR, driving in a way that gets me to crusing speed quickly; in the city, 21KM commute (13 miles) each way, average of 45KMH (28MPH) and about 10 lights, I consistently get 10.5L/100KM (22MPG).

My primary commute which is 35KM (22 miles) all freeway @ 115KMH (71 MPH) a big climb in the middle of it, and I’m getting an average of 11.6L/100Km (20MPG).

What really Kills my mileage is a strong wind. A tonneau cover appears to have helped in that regards, but wind still causes a significant mileage drop at highway speeds.

My average fuel economy has improved over the past 10K to the tune of about .5L/100KM. I diligently track every single fill up so I am confident in my calculations.

Best long highway trip mileage was 9.5L/100KM (25MPG) averaging around 100KM/H (62MPH) in the mountains.

The 5th gen 4Runner I had prior to this, also a TRD OR, on the same freeway commute struggled to squeeze out 12.9L/100KM (18MPG). Best I ever saw on a long highway mountain trip was 11.5L/100KM

I do wonder how much the ECU learning factors into mileage overtime.

Download the Fuelly app and track your mpg by entering the numbers at each fill-up.

If I drive to grocery store about 2 miles stop and go I will only get 15mpg or worse

I agree, they constantly put their foot in it from light to light, stop sign to sign etc.
Then cry that their fuel economy sucks

Not when half the trucks are lifted and running e rated tire's. How could that possibly be accurate? Take a look at any of the trucks on this site. One guy added 2k lbs of steel and 35 inch e-rated tires.
