What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Yeah if Front Range Offroad would come out with their +2 kit I think it would be ideal in a lot of ways. Granted their design was a bit odd. Shame there is no market for that really. If I had more time Id try just making one myself and getting custom axle shafts. Seems like a lot of work for not a lot of gain though.

I don't know how, because yeah the rear shocks are blown out, but its still works remarkably well...somehow. Holding me back? Yeah sure a bit. But certainly not keeping me from outpacing anything else. Im stoked to redo the rear this winter with some real outboard shocks. Working on putting stuff together to do it.

I've come to appreciate the mid travel front with the Kings on Igor. But I also do not like it come from the front LT. Its insane the difference it makes. And of course I don't mind the width but that is a big negative.

I have almost 100,000 since the last rebuild and 40,000 with the methanol kit,

Rotor and case coating show little wear with
100,000 miles
One needle bearing is going out a little

 

Are the heated mirror parts still available from the dealer?

Not bad at all, very little scoring for as high miles as that whole thing is. Certainly cleaner than mine was when I installed it, not sure how clean it is now with the meth

No carbon build up on the rotors as u can see, no coating pealing off,
But was recommended to rebuild it at 100,000 each time because of the added boost, methanol and
smaller pulley.
A lot more stress on the needle bearings in particular

 

I love the kit, my rear end feels awesome after all that work I did to it. And I dont rub at all with 285s. Works great, just alot of work and alot to think about.

What kind of work we talking about....

 

Cutting/welding/breaking down your leaf pack/measuring travel numbers, essentially all the work that goes into building a proper rear shock setup for these trucks.
