@Bocsy44 if you subscribe to that item on camelcamelcamel they will email you when it is on sale. Thats what I did for traction boards. Now to pull the trigger... i should have a drink or two, would make spending money much easier lol

This that and the other thing.
it still connects to an outside antenna, its not hand held like a walk-e-talk-e. you mount a small box under the dash, plug your power and antenna into the box and then plug the cobra into the box. so the mic/speaker/and cb radio in all in the little hand held unit

EDIT: just re read ur post and I think I miss understood what u were saying hahaha I don't want hand held, I just don't want a big cb radio mounted in the truck. If I spot, I yell and use hand signals haha

Depends on what kind of setup you are looking for. Magnet on top for portable. Those antenna are great also! Or fiberglass antenna for a more "permanent" setup like mine or like chris has, which means antenna bracket and coax wired discretely. Depends also on the antenna lenght you want/need. I like the 108" stainless steel whip, but a little overkill i think haha take a look at https://www.rightchannelradios.com/
There is a lot of information!
sounds good! Thought you were maybe working some kind of deal to become associates or what not haha

I want to mount the antenna right behind the cab. I will fab up a bracket that mounts the the bed rail on the cab side of the box. how much higher then the cab should the antenna be? you have urs on a spring right so u can take the antenna off quickly?

If mounted on the bedrail don't forget to add a ground to the mount to the frame. And yes springs acts like quick disconnect! If you get an antenna 4' or shorter I have one for you in my garage! Information should be confirmed but I think 1/3 of antenna has to be above the highest point of the truck, best conditions would be 1/2 of it, or like magnet mounted one, all above the roof. I also have the swr tuner hou can borrow when you are ready;)
