Well of course snap on has it! lol

What scanner do you have by the way? Last I looked was some time ago when Toyota had a proprietary monopoly on their tech. Granted they probably work closely with Snapon matco etc. And passed it to them.

Success TW!!!! So I actually found a shop in a one stoplight town that had the scan tool. 45 minutes and 80 bucks later this truck stops better than it ever has before.

So it was definitely air in the abs system. Probably has been a little in there since I purchased the truck. Pedal always felt a little spongey. Now it's firm and full of confidence. (Insert Viagra joke here)

Thanks again to everyone that replied and to Key Rei for the proper vernacular to use.

I have an old modus that I use very rarely. It's big, heavy and slow. The new solus pro is an awesome little machine!!!! Quick and touchscreen and it doesn't have those personality keys that the modus has.

Yes. Mechanic. I hate the term tech. Don't know why.

I dunno maybe it's just the PC term that bugs you being a true blue collar kinda guy. I used to work for a Toyota dealer years ago but followed a buddy into a job and ended up getting a sweet gig making sure the seats don't fall off of rollercoasters. Half the work twice the pay and no annoying service writers or know nothings coming in saying their POS was golden until I touched it etc etc.

The ever since club is always a good laugh. Ever since you fixed my flat tire my wiper is torn. Or ever since you changed my oil my brakes squeak. But yeah nothing worse than a service writer that doesn't even know what psi stands for.

Yup, just tried it. Latter scenario. Pedal stays solid and truck doesn't move at all.

Any idea if TechStream has this option?

No idea, not familiar with TechStream's scanners, but you may get lucky like @FadedComa and find a mom and pop that has a scantool that can do it like the Solus pro @Bebop mentioned. Good luck!

Hey guys I'm enjoying the conversation about our brake system it's nice to learn new things. My question is being a non- mechanic and needing rotors and new pads should I attempt this or take to mechanic which have this scan tool I don't want to mess my abs up. When I look up front brake replacement online they make it look very straightforward and a lot of times don't even mention bleeding the brake system so I'm confused. Any input would be appreciated. Yes you can do it. Open the bleeder valves like they said when compressing the pistons and you won't have to worry about the issues the OP dealt with. I didn't, but I don't want to say it's not important after going through all three pages of this thread. Give it a shot if you think it's worth the money you'll save - it's just a few bolts more than changing your brake pads.

TechStream is actually Toyota's own diagnostic software. You can buy an OBDII to USB cable and last I knew you could download it from Toyota's UK site and it still has all the data for North American vehicles.

Keep meaning to buy a cable, but it's been three years and I haven't done it.

Sounds like a hell of a way to stop! You may try to use the parking brake instead of slamming it into park. For long term ware and tare of course
