Belt slip is the only issue I've had as well.

My tensioner comes in tomorrow, and my 68" belt. ;)

Poor @rjbiii I feel for you man. One way or another we'll figure out your issue.

@Athlaos I thought everything had been checked out. I really hate diagnosing over the internet. Ship me the damn truck and I'll figure it out. :D

    Maybe we're the lucky ones...

Diagnosing through forum does totally suck. But yeah, we'll figure it out.

Fell on it's face.... I would merge on the freeway, down an onramp in the rain and it just stumbled like a kid tripping over his untied shoelaces. It only lasted a second each time, but it didn't make me feel safe one bit.
Sometimes just the roost from a trucks tire as I passed it in the rain would cause the stumble too. I had a slight whistle at partial throttle as well due to the poor maf seating issue.

I just went back to my AFE stage2 si and it's been just fine. When your at speed, even the stock intake pulls ambient temperature air, so no big deal.

I've flashed one of my own ECUs with the TRD flash previously. Its pretty easy to do if you have the tool and access to TIS.

Someone said their dealer told them it wasn't available anymore, I call BS on that. That dealer is being lazy or just doesn't want to do it for whatever reason.

Possibly because flashing a maggy system and any following problems would void any help from the trd nerds?
Just a guess.... I know my buddy asked them about my shift flare years ago, so there's somebody.... Or WAS somebody they had available via phone to walk them through blower installs/issues.

I was more worried about them not wanting to give me the flash for liability reasons, especially since it wasnt a TRD stamped blower and I had installed it myself. But the tech was actually excited to do it because they hadn't seen a gen 2 supercharged tacoma at that dealer before.

Look here is the mindset to dealers and repair shops regarding customer vehicles and performing work they are not comfortable with doing. If we (as the dealer or shop) touched it, the customer is now within every right to return to us if they have problems following after the work has been performed because we are the last ones to touch the related area.

Basically by the dealer or shop performing work in the related area, they now own it.

You don’t need to know ur calibration id. U can simply hook up techstream and run a health check and it will tell you your current id. Andif there’s any software updates. Including the supercharger update.

This is how I remember it working when I did mine. Techstream takes all the guesswork out by identifying the vehicle and matching it up with applicable updates available.

VW ODIS doesn’t do that. You have to know the SVM code for the vehicle you’re working on. If you type in the wrong code, it’ll tell you. But the scan tool won’t list them out and let you choose.

When I first installed my supercharger, my dealer tried to do it for me. But the update wouldn’t show up because the Bully Dog flash disguises itself as a TRD flash by using the same calibration ID. So when Techstream does the health check, it thinks the TRD flash is already there and doesn’t offer the option.

Most manufacturers I assume would have a technician support line. We have that at VW and believe me, I use them!

If you tell tech line that something is aftermarket, they don’t really help much. But if the dealer or the tech has any interest in fixing the car and any common sense, he knows that the maggy is pretty much identical to the trd and won’t mention that to tech line.

These days dealers are so shy about keeping it real with the customer. I tell customers, look I know you have the APR tune, intake, downpipe with no cat, etc. If you are willing to pay for this diagnosis/repair time I will do it, but I’m not liable for anything aftermarket or anything that occurs after you leave. You may end up paying for diag time that doesn’t lead to a repair. Aftermarket equipment and tunes may need to be removed and put back to stock, but we will let you know and get permission before doing any of that. No warranty on anything unless everything is OEM parts. Sign here saying you agree.

Get signatures and document everything. Simple as that.

I'm not having the same issues with my urd intake. But I'm going to move it down behind the bumper skin. Never bothered with a shield. Maybe the shield is causing a funky turbulence that's creating issues??
