I agree with pretty much everyone so far, 4 no problem. I had 4 lined up vertically along the front rail with strap through them so they didn't roll. Willing to bet you can easily for both sets maaaaaaybe dropping the gate. I also have a DCSB

I had a pic of two 305s and two 315s lined up, between the wheel wells and tailgate but can’t find it, you’ll be fine.

Long bed here, but 9 is the number. One set of 245/75, one set of 255/85, one 265/70 spare.

:anonymous: I have way too many bald tars and wheel sets in my garage.

I am thinking 4 vertical lined up near the cab, then 4 more lined up vertical at the tailgate end. That's 10.5"x 4 = 42" which should squeeze inbetween the wheel wells. Since you will have 2 rows of 31" tires, that's 62" so the tailgate won't close as a short bed in only 60 inches but there will be no weight on the tailgate. The rows of tires will contact the bottom of the bed at about 15.5 inches from the cab and 46.5 inches from the cab. Just ratchet strap them down well. You could even ratchet strap the tailgate mostly closed if you wanted but I wouldn't bother. I'd use a bed net for extra security if you have one.

Ratchet straps though the wheels/tires centers. You can leave that tailgate down the entire trip.

Good idea on the bed net. I recently bought a stretch net for my 4x5 trailer so this should work.

Also, when you line up a row of tires vertically in the bed, ratchet them together with a strap through the center and around one side. This will keep the outside tires from flopping over sideways. Then ratchet the whole row of tires down with another strap.

Buy or borrow a cargo basket and some ratchet straps, and you'll be in business

I don't have access to a cargo basket to borrow so I may just have to try and squeeze 5-6 in the bed and another 2 in the back seat
