Welder messed up my slider install

    they also look a bit short?? maybe even 1.5 feet too short? theres a lot of unprotected real estate on the front of your bed side.

    Agree that they are short. I would not be happy without the plates-Did those not come with gussets too??? Or did I just not see them??

    I think they look REALLY funny angled down like that-I have never seen them like that I don't think.

    Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
    If he is indeed a professional welder. He would fix the issues. For FREE. He'd just have to replace the part running to the frame, use the original plates and weld it back up.
    This is IF he wanted to keep his good rep.

    Too bad, though. Now you know who not to use next time

    Seriously though, his welds look nice so it's not so much that he can't weld, just that he hasn't seen them put on correctly. I would cut them off and have him weld them back on with your guidance on placement. Keep us updated.

    Cut 'em off as close to the frame as possible. Clean the remnants off the frame with an angle grinder and flap discs. Cut the tubes off the sliders themselves and again clean the remaining metal with an angle grinder and flap discs.

    Using them as they are will punch holes in your frame.

    Find someone to do the job right. They'll need to supply fresh tubes to run from the sliders to the frame.

    Welder does not equal fabricator, unfortunately.
