Awesome. Thanks for all the input. Im a little torn between 6 ply and the 4 ply, but since I don’t get to off-road nearly as much as I would like I think because of the price and weight difference I’ll probably go 4 ply now that I’ve seen some pictures. Some tires the sl versions look quite a bit less aggressive but these seem to be very similar to the lt’s

My previous BFG KM2's said 3 ply on the sidewall. I wheeled a lot and it was fine and had no issues. 4 ply is plenty.

I wish I would have went with the 285’s. But I definitely like these more than the Trail Grapplers.

Hey guys I need some advice. So I got 285/70/17 ridge graps from discount tires and I had them installed at my local America’s tire. I’m getting steering wheel shakes at 55-65 mph and I took it into my local tire shop (not America’s tire) to have my tires road force balanced. The guy who road force balanced them said that the tires weren’t even balanced correctly and one tire is egg shaped and all of them are out of round. He was able to get three of the tires balanced but wasn’t able to get the egg shaped one to balance. Three of the tires have a lot of weights. I have scs wheels so I don’t think they are adding any issues since they are designed for our trucks. I still have the shakes and they seem worse than before. And also my steering wheel shakes when I brake now could that be becoause of the out of balanced wheel. I put on new rotors and pads on in April. What should I do? Are tires normally out of round? Any advice will help. Thanks.

I’m not sure. I’d get a replacement for that one at least. Maybe take the weights off and throw beads in there to balance? I did this to my 35’s on my Jeep and they ride great.

^ Went ahead and fixed that.
Shit pic, sun was going down.

Hwy noise is same as stock Toyos. They do have a hum on some fresh paved asphalt the the stockers didn't, but nothing bothersome.
Came out of the shop @ 40psi, pulled over and dropped it to 34 and it felt better. Nice feel on a twenty minute ride through the mountains.

    Thanks!
I've been enjoying some local mountain trails that come with some relatively deep stream crossings in a friends Rubicon. It's rocky, a little muddy, and a bit sketchy for street tires. Wanted to get something done before I wore out my welcome with my buddy's ride. :)

Cool, you're right. I went a little overboard with mine.

    Hey, I wouldn't say that's overboard.

Some of the setups I've seen looked like they could/should have been improved upon, as you no doubt felt.
However, $26.20 and a little hose will have me out of the woods for the time being.
