Alright fellow TW members, need some HELP, please. Figured I'd post here since this thread gets a lot of attention, instead of creating a new one.

Going to try and give as much info as possible so I can get some input/feedback, but definitely don't mind answering questions if need be in hopes of getting the input/feedback I need. Pardon the long post. Here goes.

Experiencing what I'm calling "shaking" at highway speeds. Seems to sometimes feel like it comes and goes though. Steering wheels "shakes", and truck also feels like it "shakes".

--> already got alignment checked more than once, and it's fine
--> already got wheels checked and balanced, and they're fine
--> started before having the PRO suspension installed, so not a "new" issue since it was done (put on back in April)
--> when I had the PRO suspension installed I also had the ECGS bearing put in
--> does/did it with both sets of wheels and tires I have (TRD Sport 17" wheels painted black w/Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 tires, Pro Comp Extreme 17" wheels that w/Firestone Destination LE2 tires)
--> currently have the PRO suspension with the HS progressive AAL in the back and left the overload leaf in, with a cap, but like I mentioned before it was already doing this before I had all of that put on

Dropping it off Monday morning at the service center of my local dealership, since it's right down the road from where I live, and taking the day off to get some stuff done outside while it's there. Looking for some input/feedback of what I should TELL them to check, in hopes of finding the issue and getting it fixed. Hoping all of the mechanically inclined peeps can give me some info so I don't go in there looking like a total idiot, and they don't try to screw me over. PLEASE!

 

Driveshaft could be out of balance or maybe the U joints are going bad.

Why did you paint the tail lights. Seems kinda illegal and dangerous. How bright are they?

so I called Toyota stealership to order the old skool bed side pockets to do the mod to my 2014 that came with out. anyone have any insight on if I should be able to cut into the bed insert and fit these in with out issue?

 

Because he loves spraypainting things. Very illegal and stupidly dangerous. Your insurance company won't cover you if I smashed into you from behind.

 

Have you dont the needle bearing to ECGS bushing? Does it make a groaning sound? Try putting it into 4wd and seeing if the sound/vibe goes away if it happens at lower speeds at all. If it's strictly highway speeds, my vote is for Ujoint or carrier bearing.

 

Did the EGGS needle bearing replacement when the PRO suspension went on. No groaning, nothing weird, and still "shakes" in 4WD.

I don't get making your tailights less visible.

 

All you need is a hole saw to fix this issue

Wheel hubs, drive shaft, carrier bering, u joints, drive line angles, that's what I've got off the top of my head.

Its actually required by law to have red reflective on the back of your vehicle. so yes very illegal. He could be ticketed or even worse towed.

Question: When I popped my hood to do the anti-mouse mod the other day (install metal mesh over the cabin air intake), the hood didn't pop up, but did unlatch. I was able to pry it up, and get it open.

On the way home last night, the hood popped on the highway - the safety mechanism caught it, but can anyone tell me what's going on?

 

what size is the hole saw for this? Keep putting it off lol. I figure maybe I'll bang this out one day and paint my chrome, since whatever chrome is left will be coming off or being painted. De-badging to replace with decals and painting the front emblem to match.

 

Clean and lube the latch. Check where the rubber bumpers touch the hood for rubber residue that could cause sticking.

 

Loose u bolts on rear end. I used to have a 88 Toyota pickup that the u bolts came loose and changed the drive shaft angles. Not as noticeable at low speeds. Under hard acceleration and up at highway speeds it was very noticeable.

 

I want to say 2" but I happened to have one laying around when i did the project. I just disassembled everything and eyeballed if it was big enough. Ill measure it tonight and let you know if its different than 2"

I am thinking about de badging too, its such a clean look on the Taco's!!
