3rd Gen TRD Battery Hold downs

I have been selling 1st gen & 2nd Gen Battery Hold Downs for awhile. It has been suggested that I start a thread in the 3rd Gen Market place.

The units that I have been selling for the 2nd Gens will fit the 3rd Gens. I have sold to several members here.

I currently have four (4) versions.

The first ones I made was the fixed wide version. Here are a few examples.






I made the fixed wide version first. Then it came to light that some batteries have the water fill caps that are close together. To use a wide version, you need at least 1 1/8” between the center two (2) battery caps. For the truck owners that had batteries with less than 1 1/8” between the two center caps, I made a fixed narrow version. Other than the width in the middle of the hold down being smaller, these are the same.

These are the second variation I made, these are narrow versions.

As of May 1, 2021 I am no longer making fixed width narrow or wide versions. The adjustable versions have become very popular, so the fixed width versions are going to be discontinued.

Some people started using the Northstar batteries that are slightly narrower at the top of the battery. The guys that did a lot of off roading, wanted something that fit snugger on the sides.

I then made a wide version that has adjustable jaws, for this application.










I also have the wide and the adjustable wide with NO TRD on top for non Toyota applications.



I have recently started making an adjustable narrow version.













Price for the fixed width narrow & wide are $55 for raw aluminum and $75 for the fixed width powder coated.

Price for the adjustable narrow or wide is $65 for raw aluminum & $85 for the adjustable wide or narrow, powder coated.

I have a few that I have the TRD painted red or black and the aluminum is brushed then clear coated. These are $75 for the fixed width narrow or wide and $85 for the adjustable narrow or wide.

Prices includes J hooks and hardware. After April 1, 2021 shipping will be an extra charge.

The colors that I usually have in stock are:

Textured black with red TRD.

Textured black with machined TRD (matches TRD blower)

Textured black with gloss black TRD.

Gloss black with gloss red TRD.

Gloss red with gloss black TRD.

Textured red with gloss black TRD.

Gloss white with gloss black TRD.

Gloss cement with gloss black TRD.

Matte army green with gloss red TRD.

Gloss quicksand with gloss black TRD.

Gloss dark metallic blue with silver TRD.

Brushed aluminum with red or black TRD, then clear coated. (This is painted not powdercoated)

I have a public service announcement.

I have had a few people on TW, report that have had non-sealed batteries leak a little around the fill caps. If the acid leaks, it will attack the aluminum in the hold down. If you have a sealed battery, this is not a problem. While there have been a few instances of people with this problem, there are a lot of people that have conventional, non-sealed batteries that use these battery hold downs without an issue. Since there have been a few instances, I am warning people that do not have sealed batteries.

If I was considering one of these for purchase, I might co-ordinate this with a sealed battery upgrade.

 

did you ever decide if an adjustable delrin was feasible?

 

It can be made. I do not know what the demand would be. The delrin would probably need to be glass filled. This would be more costly than aluminum. UHMW polyethylene looks like Delrin, but would be a little stronger and cheaper than Delrin.

I would need to make at least ten.

If you think you can get ten people to buy these, I will look at the costs.

 

Does the wide fit the stock battery?

 

No. The center two battery caps are too close together. You need at least 1 1/8" between the two.

 

So the narrow version will work for the factory 3rd gen battery?

Will be getting a second gen battery tray to hold the battery better. Which hold down do you recommend? What do you have in stock?
