So the problem with the rubberized coatings is that as they age and start to dry out, they begin to crack. Moisture and salt gets inside of the cracks and just sits there between the frame and the rubberized coating. From the outside appearance the frame looks great, but as soon as you start looking a little closer and peeling the coating off you'll then see that the frame is rotting away.

Ah I meant under those on the beaten pinch weld

    Edit:
I think I’ll hit it with regular rustoleum paint first, then use the rubberized stuff

    Form follows function
All 2nd gen can do super charger on the 4.0L V6
Big jump in safety features started with ‘09 (along with a-trac, abs based feature that keeps your truck moving forward in slippery conditions)
TRD OR has coveted but sometimes seldom used rear locker
    05-06 had head gasket issues.
    They will all rust.
They will all sag at the rear (soft leaf springs)
    ‘12+ had face lift
‘13+ (I think) have an annoying secondary air pump but people seem to know a work around their issues (just google it, you’ll see tons of videos on this)
The newer you get the nicer the infotainment system.

I’ve owned an ‘09 for several years now, can’t go wrong with it. I do admit that the newer models are always going to be a little nicer.

    Good luck.

After 8 years and 130,000 miles, figured it was time for a sexy new radiator cap.

I had recently changed the coolant and installed new rad hoses and thermostat as well. I’m saving the old cap as a spare, still seems to be in good shape.

From my research today the rubber under coating will only come off with heat gun and scraping, then using oven cleaner/aircraft stripper to get the residue. :annoyed:
This is going to be a long painful job. then I have to repaint all the metal with rustoleum, THEN i can fluid film it.

First time swapping out the spark plugs. Easy job following the sticky. It is one of those things where you'll definitely get faster the more you do it. Truck seems to idle nicer as the original plugs were still in it and I'm at 80k mileage.

Not affected much? That's too much for me and it's not just you driving around alone on the streets. Your, slightly less safe vehicle is sharing the road with others. That fraction of a second lost due to less luminescence may make the difference.

My advice, just leave it. Fluid film over top of it and in a year or two crawl under and scrape off whatever you can and spray another layer of fluid film on. It's not like the rubber itself is harming the frame. It's just that when left on long term it cracks and collects moisture underneath.

will the fluid film get into those cracks and fill them? will the fluid film also help dry out the rubber spray?

The fluid film should seep into any exposed area that it can. It stays as a liquid and never dries out. I can't say whether it will aid in the removal of the rubberized liner though. It's supposed to be safe on rubber gasket material but I've heard people say that it caused door seals to swell so how it reacts to the bedliner would be a toss up.

Cleaned my MAF sensor, then took my son to Target’s Paw Patrol Halloween event. I felt like Target could have done better.

Washed and waxed the beast, cleaned some spot on the rear seat from youngest grandson spilling something..Will probably do it one more time before the rain starts saw some water spot on the roof that need to be dealt with. Also notice the Plasitic Dip on right rear Bead lock is coming off, same with left front. So think I will peal it all off and run bronze for the winter and see how I like it. The PO had dipped them at some time in the 27K he owned now at 36K they are showing signs of needing to be redone. Would love to know the owner history of this truck had it for 8 year and 27 K mile Turk was spotless and had the bead locks put on and then dipped them black. Wonder why he got rid of it.
