Not that it really matter though, your way works fine.


I’ve never looked in CB’s and really don’t know much about them.

 

I ran a CB setup on my truck until I took it off about two years ago. I used it 99% of the time for the PA Function.

You say anything into that PA and people swarm to you. People thought it was the funniest shit ever.

The conversations I heard on that thing though. I was on this one channel and a guy was insulting another guy whom he referred to as “Radish” for ten minutes straight. I don’t think anyone else was even on the channel.

 

Mainly I just don't have the heart to drill a big hole on the roof like that.

I lost interest in HAM a long time ago. I don't know enough people that have them to be worthwhile. I barely even use the CB anymore.

 

I went with a "removeable" setup on my truck. When I don't need it I unplug my Cobra 75 & the antenna is on a quick disconnect.

 

I used the heck out of my radio last year, we use them a lot when we hunt and that’s pretty much all I did last year, didn’t work at all ahahaha.

Drilling a hole kinda dedicates you for sure.

 

I mounted my antenna parallel to the AM/FM antenna on the hood. When I eventually put my rollbar in I’m going for dual antennas.

 

I can't even convince myself to drill holes for nutserts on the cab for a light bar! Haha

I wanted a HAM or race radio back when I used to hang out with the desert guys for a little while then I lost interest. None of my friends have them so it didn't make sense for me to get one. Plus we're city slickers, we can live without.

 

I’m gonna drill 2 holes eventually haha, when this truck replaces the the other one.

 

I forget, you bought that other truck because your original truck has issues?

 

I don’t think I ever used the CB to talk to anyone. Mainly listen.

I could never get my SWR down, so maybe that too.

 

The other truck runs fine, everything pretty much works, I think.

I’ve just beat on it pretty hard, the frame has multiple rust holes and cracks and the cab is leaking.

Pretty much just got this one for reliability and safety while away from home at school.

 

Ah, so you’re keeping and using both. Just at different times?

 

My dad uses the other a little bit right now and I use it when I go home yes.

Eventually my sister will drive it, I think.

 

I used to listed all the time when I first installed. Now a days I don't hear much talk anymore. Mainly just spanish speakers but every once in a while I'll catch some funny truckers.

Yeah I really only use my CB on trips to Pismo or on short trails with my buddy but he doesn't go that often. So most of the time I don't have the CB connected.

IIRC it's bad for the CB if you try to transmit with very high SWR.

 

I can take close up pics of each wheel if you are really interested. They're just sitting in my garage. Haven't got around to posting them for sale yet but I would like to clear up space.
