Committing to cut it is the hardest part. @JDAM provided me with words of wisdom to get it done. "Line looks good enough but its your bumper so I'll let you do it." lol And it turned out just fine!

Yeah, I also had a spare bumper cover from @STacoS and was going to use that bumper and just keep my old one JIC. Turns out we had accidentally cut the corners all the way off when you need the bottom piece for your grill and fog light wiring harness and ended up throwing it away lol

Thanks! That's funny that you mention leaving the bumper on vs the instructions explaining to remove it. The few video installs I've seen have left the bumper on as well.
Thanks @rlx02. Appreciate the heads up. Good to know about the grinder. The idea of a sawzall conjures images of a vibrating bumper with sloppy lines. Beyond trimming the stock bumper, were any further mods or fitting adjustments needed?

I guess I'd have to see some pictures to figure out what/why doesn't fit right. 2mm per side is just over 1/16" inch, so realistically not very much. Is it the bolt spacing that is 4mm too wide, and you are looking to elongate the holes in the mounting tabs? A dremel with a grinding stone or sanding drum would make quick work of that.

Yeah, it's first gen, 95-04. Shackle holes are dead give away. 2nd gen ARB's don't have those.

Help Needed: CBI rock sliders install

Hey Dudes/Dudettes. Attempting to install my CBI sliders tomorrow morning. Any tips or tricks that might help? Feel free to PM so this doesn't clog up the thread. Posted on 'what have you done to your 3rd gen' as well. Just trying to throw a wide net. Thanks!

PNW BS Thread then, son! Also, there should be a designated left and right (front to rear) slider for each side of the truck. Thats the only tip I have.

Tip: Transmission jacks are helpful for positioning and supporting sliders and bumpers while you bolt them on.

It's just that the bar is literally 4mm too wide to fit within the mounting tabs that stick out. I can try to take a picture tomorrow to show you. The mounting tabs are pretty thick since they are aluminum so I'm not worried about removing the excess material.

I don't think so. You can put some weather striping along the cut part of the bumper, esp if the paint flaked off or something but you should be good.

Hardest part of a bumper install is the cutting. After that you can take it off in 5 minutes.

Meh, maybe $8k over but you ever seen a twin stick dual case Tacoma with sas and low miles for sale? It's obviously open for negotiation as he says reasonable offer. It's a d44 HP 4link. I think that speaks for itself.

Shoulda gone D60 disc brake on all 4 corners with gear swap and lockers for that kinda change along with 63 leafs in the rear. It's the basic bro sas for these trucks but I can't hate. He took it to the 4link level where id just slap a leaf sprug sas on it.

Definitely a good platform to build off of, but at the point you're taking a torch to it and putting D44/D60 under it, there's no going back to stock, and imo, not able to be valued via Edmunds/nada/kbb. To the right person that holds "liberias deficit in their skyrocket" that's a turn key trail ready, point and go A-B streetable truck. I'd be more concerned with why they're getting rid of it more than combing it over with a fine tooth comb. Gears, sas and a odometer reading of 71k is odd, not to mention the clean title.

Am I missing something? Would be even better if it was a DC. If not I'll sell my truck as is right now for $10k with ocean front property in arizona...

Side note, anyone know if that fj guy successfully sold off defconbrix's truck?

Full disclosure, the tires are starting to show the first early signs of dry rot, but are probably good for at least another year, and still have a lot of tread left. I would have kept running these awhile longer, but I scored a good deal on some new wheels and figured I'd go ahead and get new tires while I was at it.
