Chipmunks in my 2017 Tacoma, ARGH!

My next door neighbor successfully uses the bucket trick, I go with the peanut butter traps. Both work.
Deterrents just didn't work for me. I tried. Removal or death are the only solutions, and it's a constant battle where I live.

 

Haha, I'll be sending the kids out for the afternoon, just me, the 2 cats, pellet gun, and bloodthirst. The cons of living in the Maine woods. :/

 

I have a chipmunk problem around my house. My neighbors just don’t get it, even after the damage to there car. NO BIRD FEEDERS . I use a combination of lethal methods. Ammonia and bleach poured separately into there holes can be effective, BUT DO NOT BREATH THE FUMES.

 

The only thing that worked for me on a car that was not a DD were mothballs in a nylon sock on top of each tire.
If you think about how they first gain access into your vehicle it's by climbing up onto your tires and going from there into your vehicle.
The only problem with this method was forgetting the mothballs on top of the tires and running them over.

 

You ever smelled mothballs? Someone told me to smell them once, but had the damnest time getting their legs apart.

Those were used for the backyard critters. Inside, don't think fiance would be happy me blowing holes in a new house. Haha, though it's very tempting

 

At the FIRST sign of chipmunks - if you are serious about eliminating the problem - AMMONIA. While this may be very harmful to the animals - when it comes to saving your car - it depends on your priorities - but to me, this is always the way to go. For those looking to be a bit more humane - there is nothing you can do besides try to block them out with a tight wire mesh ( www.bwire.com ) keep in mind - these things can get through REALLY tight spots, but if you get down to something like a 10x10 wire mesh (10 wires per inch) they probably have no chance, and will look elsewhere for a warm place to hang out and live this winter.
