There is no dipstick. Checking it isn't a simple task on these trucks. Unless it wasn't filled correctly from the factory, (which I understand has happened), and none has leaked then there is no reason to check it.

It doesn't take 4 hours, but they had completed your service as required. If you want them to do extra work then you should have to pay for it and get in line behind those ahead of you. That is the reason for the 4 hour wait.

Always easier to open your mouth than to open your wallet.

Warranty doesn’t mean everything you want is free. Read the coverage, not the internet.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
But the thing is it isn't actually "sealed." It's just their way of preventing the average guy who can change his own engine oil and rotate tires from doing it himself, thus making the dealership more money. A lot of people hear "it's a sealed system" or "it requires special procedures" and will be too afraid to even research it themselves.

Upon further investigation, it appears that the dealer was right in this situation. It's small print so it would fit, but footnote 1 states to inspect sealed transmission for leaks, it does not in any way suggest you check the level.

Case closed. OP check it yourself or pay to have it checked.

A lot of literature is from the old days of dipsticks.

I'm not warming up or cooling a transmission and checking the fluid because of some internet warrior demanding it. There needs to be a reason or a valid complaint. Most owners don't complain until they read the issues online.

The other models require an SST and 90 degree Celsius, it takes for fucking ever.

Dealer could have explained his position better perhaps. The initial lie that it couldn't be checked wasn't a good start.

What 5,000 mile oil change / fluid check service on earth includes transmissions, differentials, and transfer cases?

The material referenced above shows that it clearly isn't. The OP got his panties in a twist when the dealership wouldn't do work for free.

Service adviser was right - transmission fluid check is not included in a 5k oil change.

It can also not be checked in the manner that most people think of a fluid level check. That is probably why the service adviser explained it as he did.

You buy a car based on whether there is a dipstick for the tranny or even brag about it ?
I have other Toyotas I never looked at the tranny fluid. Dealer courtesy service took care of it. Only changed it at 100K.
You guys will lose sleep over the chain driven water pump in the Ford Raptor that costs $2000 to replace and if it leaks can damage the engine.

"Techs work for free"? Really? It's the damn dealership that doesn't want to pay. I have a case number ongoing for tranny trouble and was told by the C/S person handling my case that, "Yes, there is a corporate recognized issue with low tranny fluid levels and the dealers will check them if asked". Technicians get paid to do this.

The dealership doesn't pay squat. If you come in wanting your transmission checked the work has to get paid by either the customer or Toyota Corporate. If Toyota decides not to pay to do the work then the customer is responsible for the bill.
