This seems like the best place to ask.

I haven't had a CB in my car since 2001, do you guys still recommend them? Do people still talk on there?

I've got one all picked out, but I'm not sure I want to spend the money if it's a dead tech.

Yes, they still talk on CB radio! On a recent 1600+ mile trip down to SC and back my CB radio came in handy when a 5 mile traffic jam on I-95 popped up due to a lane closure. The airwaves may not be as crowded as they once were, but truckers still use CB.

I had a CB in the 2nd gen but it didn’t get moved into the new truck. CB is entertaining to listen to- and if you were out with other who had it I could see it being useful.

Usually I’m listening to the vhf and talking on the repeater with the other Ham guys in town.

I'm running this in my truck. Mounted under the driver seat and the mic goes between the seat and center console when not in use. Totally hidden but always there when you want to use it

I am dealing with some engine noise and LED noise that I need to clear up, but still usable

The mic volume could be a little louder but it works.

I'm using this one as well. Mounted under passenger seat, (temporarily until I figure out permanent location) mic between driver seat and console, and I also have external speaker (BTW, even with a speaker, sound still comes out of handheld unit).
I'm also dealing with some engine noise and brake... I'm planning on installing a noise filter.

There still is some CB talk. Not even close to what it was 15 years ago, but there is still something there.

Got the start of my mount going. It's a thick angle bracket from Menards. Bolts right to the 2 factory holes at the front of the bed.

From what I remember that rail isn't grounded (it's bolted to composite bed). Please check for ground, and if something run a ground strap to the frame.

Thanks man! I wonder if the bracket can be utilized for a bike mount as well?

I'm actually going to pick up a few more, I think I can make a cover for the bed with them.
