Good on you for seemingly keeping your cool and getting a tourniquet applied as soon as possible. Truck parts can be replaced. His arm... not so much

I really appreciate this, guys. I honestly didnt think I did anything special. You know how it is with these things, you just do without question. Again guys I seriously appreciate that. I haven't been doing so great and now I have a video in my head on replay of my friends artery looking like a snorks snorkel, vomiting streams of blood into a chainsaw blade while my ears are ringing from his screams in torrential rain. Holy shit. I thought I had severe CPTSD before . I'm sorry guys I'm ramblin, I'm kinda alone hear. Its been a bad 12 years. Thanks again

Not a lot of 3rd Gen owners have put them in but quite a few 2nd gen owners, you can search there’s a lot of threads, here’s one. The recommendation is to keep your stock throw out bearing if you decide on the URD. They have a torque heavy flywheel, too.

Glad you got your friend out. Sorry that you had to endure an experience like that. At least you can come out with something learned. I am sure you are playing it over and over, thinking what you wouldve done differently.
Sounds like your quick thinking very well could be the reason your buddy is still alive. Remember that.

Now wtf is this 1 handed chainsawing technique? Dont think Ive seen it before. Was he de-limbing the tree and it got away from him?

What pictures do you expect me to have and what pictures would you want to see exactly? My friend bleeding to death, the blood everywhere, his severed hand, the look of terror on his face? You're kinda fucked up. This is the only pic I have of the whole day. I saw the truck this morning and had someone drive it to get cleaned, I couldn't even sit in it. I also had to walk the trail to get the chainsaw. They couldn't save his hand and had to amputate. I'm sick to my stomach and I feel awful. Fucking asshole told me he was nervous and didnt want to go down the trail, I assured him and now hes an amputee. My life was a disgusting mess before this. This ain't helping.

It's not your fault that it happened @LeeVanChief . The only thing you are solely responsible for, is saving that mans life. Don't forget that. Losing a hand is unfortunate, but he will live, and that is what matters.

Shit happens man. If the chainsaw hadn’t gotten away from him it would’ve been a great story over beer. The “So no shit, there we were” kind of story.

Wow! I was not expecting that story to go along with a destroyed clutch post. Best of luck to your friend.

I think Toyota chose the least expensive parts for the Tacoma clutch. As others have said, go with the URD clutch.
Don't bother with the dealer, they'll just give you the run-around and a headache. The clutch shouldn't have failed so soon, but they'll blame you.

    Really sorry to hear.
Keep your head high, although it seems like a bad outcome, it could have been much worse.
