The trans set up from Toyota was intended to maximize gas mileage. It’s a truck

I don’t know why everyone thinks this is such an anomaly. I’ve owned a few new rigs and they all had to go in for TSBs and various drivability fixes. It happens all the time to almost every vehicle.

The Taco AT isn’t any worse. Understand your equipment, how it’s designed to function and why. Then learn how to make it work for you. Everything is a compromise and you bought Toyota’s compromise. Live with it or go buy another brands compromise.

I drove a 2017 and thought it was much quicker than my 2014. For merging, I gain speed on the ramp or turtle my way in. Since I rarely accelerate beyond one down shift the truck really hesitates if I need to slam on the gas. That said, I really dont care about going fast, or I would've bought a 5.7 liter tundra.

I’ve had mine about 6 weeks and it’s perfectly fine. It felt a little weird and hesitant at first but I think after break-in and the tranny learning my driving, it improved.

No, you knew exactly what you were doing by posting that, just another troll post to get the masses riled up. You just proved my point with your follow up about crawl control.

I just push the ECT button on my 3rd gen and it scoots, just like I do on my 14 yr old 1st gen. That little truck never let me down with its fancy push buttons, throttle by wire or ever needed a new frame..... unlike you.

1st gen fancy button, the technology still works, that's why they carried it over.

Move along kid, you're just making noise while you wait on your frame to get replaced.

How would you feel if you were caught between the 1st Gen and 3rd Gen Tacoma? The unloved generation? The middle son? Is it any wonder they are all trolling the other forums, looking for attention?

I've had all 3 gens. Out of the 3 my 06 was by far the worst. I don't remember all this so called power it had, but I do remember it getting the worst mileage by far and worst manual transmission ever!
Sold it to my brother in law and watched it turn to rust!

All of those censors will eventually go out. I guess its how much you want to pay for a vehicle; I dont need a censor to tell me when there is a car in front of me. Some people like simplicity. Performance upgrades sure but other stuff is unnecessary in my opinion

It’s so generic looking. When they first came out I was shocked at how aesthetically bland they were, and the fenderwells were atrocious.

    Bingo!
thats the thing I hate most about 2nd gens, the damn fender wells.

I've owned a few shitty looking Toyota trucks but I will never own a 2nd gen just because of those damn fender wells.
