I doubt there's anything we can say to you, to make you feel better, but as others have said, you saved your friend's life. Everything leading up to that moment were mutual decisions. While it may feel like you pressured him to go a direction he didn't want to, ultimately he chose to go along. What happen happened, but your quick thinking and actions kept it from being worse. Your friend will appreciate having his life over his hand. And even more so, he will appreciate you and your actions.

Hang in there man. You're not to blame for your buds accident... it's just that, an accident.

@LeeVanChief What do you mean by twice as much pressure? Is it harder to press or does the pedal sink farther before disengaging?

Also, if end up replacing it check out URDs heavy flywheel too. Should make it easier to prevent stalling, less throttle needed to keep the rpms up in these situations.

Just a heavier pedal. Everything else seemed normal ie. Diastance and where it engages. No slipping. I didn't drive it today

Check the fluid reservoir, something may be blocked or screwed up from the heat on the hydraulic side. TOB may toast too.

Lol this video, I've seen it so many times. On a car with that much torque the clutch pedal shouldn't have been touched after the initial drop.

 

Like the others have said you saved his life.Dwell on the fact it could have ended differently.Sounds like you did everything right.If he was stupid with the chainsaw that's on him but sounds like just a horrible accident.

That's pretty much what I was doing the whole way up. There was a lot more smoke that that. I was worried about fucking up catastrophically. The clutch wasn't even a thought. I didnt care as long as I made it to the top. One thing I can say for certain is I wouldn't have made it up without the lift.

 

First off, really sorry, that's some messed up shit. Maybe talk to someone, you know, professional. I know I would need to, I don't handle that kind of shit well that's why I'm not on the fire department. Best of luck to you.

As far as your truck... things got really really hot and they don't handle that very well. I would plan on a complete clutch job to include, replace the clutch plate, pressure plate, throw out bearing and gear oil. If your flywheel is not too bad (expect hot spots) have it turned, if it can't be turned, replace that also. It sucks, but once you are in there if you fail to do any of that, you will more than likely regret it. The one time I opted not to turn the flywheel I had clutch chatter within 10k miles. I have never done that again.

 

I will most likely replace everything. And not to mention the alignment issues I now have, shit might be bent. I went balls out up this thing so there might be other damage I'm not yet aware of.

And yes I have a therapist and she will listen to this shit

The video is funny because they simple don't have a clue, they even check under the hood at the end, like they dont know why smoke is coming from a car that isn't moving while someone "feathers" the clutch.
