Both White Castle and Pizza Hut were originally founded in Wichita, KS. You can see the original Pizza Hut building on Wichita State’s campus, calling it a hut is generous. Also never ever visit Kansas, wasted 8 years of life living there.

Crazy how you went from Kansas to California.

 

Lived in AZ, TX, KS, FL, WA, CA, and OK.

 

I sit down to have my morning coffee, and flipping through the channels.

And that’s the story of how I ended up watching American Pickers for three hours.

As a fellow purveyor of junk, this is my kind of show.

 

You were in the service, right?

 

Yup. So some of those were 1-1.5 years of living there. By far and away the worst was KS, OK was a close 2nd, with Texas being a distant 3rd. Florida wasn’t bad since the diving was good and ocean. AZ is home so kinda have a soft spot for it, but also hot as balls. WA was chill, good hiking and snowboarding. CA despite the laws is my preference.

Very interesting. Are you still in the service, or are you retired?

Why do you like California, out of curiosity?

 

I was medically retired earlier this year, fucked up my back so couldn’t keep flying (was a pilot) hence the career swap to being a dev. That within 3 hours of San Diego I have beaches, mountains, deserts, two huge ducking cities, amazing food, the best beer scene in the US, and that people are generally outdoorsy and active here. Also the fact never snows here without being AZ hot is a damn huge bonus. I like visiting the snow don’t want to live in it.
