My 2001 4X4 manual Tacoma has finally been replaced by a new Gen 3 (very sad about this, may it rust in pieces). I would like to know exactly what I should be asking the dealer to do with my Taco BEFORE I pick it up. I ordered a 2019 4X4 Sport with a manual, OEM tonneau cover and OEM predator steps.

The only thing I can think of having the tech's do, is changing the momentary blinker from 3 to 4 blinks and make sure all TSB's are updated. I can't assume from the factory that the TSB's are covered (I think). The other requests are simple like, please don't take through car wash, get all the keys it came with, etc., etc.

I simply don't want to have to take it back because I discovered or wondered if they checked "this and that" once I owned it for a bit.

Thank you, what a highly active forum!

I would be interested to know how long it takes to get an " ordered " Sport with Manuel trans. You may be disipointed in the time it takes to get it. Good Luck

TSB’S are done if there is a issue and it applies to correct the condition.

Change that momentary blinker to 7, check the rear headliner to be sure it’s all secured ( mine doesn’t fully attach in one corner, but not noticeable ), and if you decline the dealer alarm make sure they remove it.

Funny! So far I did ask for no front plate/holes, and my "odd configuration" only took about 5 weeks from deal to door. Nov 7-10th is expected date on lot.

TSB's won't be done unless you have a problem that one of them covers. TSB's are highly specific to dates of manufacture and serial numbers. Let me give you an example:
Let's say they got a shipment of diff fluid that covered a month of production. Several months later, the supplier informed Toyota that some of that fluid MIGHT be contaminated. Toyota then checks that batch with when it was used, compares serial numbers issued and writes a TSB. Some might have gotten that fluid, some might not which is why the TSB is voluntary. This is just an example and probably not even one that could happen but you get the gist.

Ma,e them check the propellor shaft for greasing, tighten the bolts on it, and check diff oil levels. All of mine were low and there was no lube in the prop shaft. Bolts on the prop were also barely tightened

I -heard- with the 2019's you do not have to grease the prop shaft any longer. Or maybe the rears have been deleted? I could very well be wrong. Anyone confirm????

Don't have them wash it or put tire shine on either unless you want shit splatted everywhere and small swirl/scratches on the paint.

Dealer decal on the tailgate. That was the one thing that I forgot to mention. Also tell them not to detail the interior, my gauge cluster is scratched because of this.
