Why would that matter. The tailpipe is up more and not located under the end cap on the rear bumper. Maybe it’s the bracket that is why you say that. I don’t know.

Make it a 3rd. Regarding the rack and tent - any of you considering bed strengtheners or maybe a strap between the bed rim cleats?

Personally I’d paint it flat black to match the grille. I’m a fan a subtle accents...

I personally really like the stiffeners from @At The Helm Fabrications. Morgan does great work and provides great customer service to members on this forum. Super fast shipping too.

Some pics of mine installed after I had them powedercoated(they ship bare metal). And built in double bottle openers are always a major plus.

First post. Just got my Tacoma a month ago (after 8 years in a JK) to transition into off-road / camping with my growing family (just adopted a toddler and my wife had our firstborn this past Wednesday).

Planning on prepping a rig that can accommodate two adults, two kids, and three dogs in overland camping trips. Looks like it will be a challenge but I'm sure the Tacoma can do it.

To that end, my first update is this Rola hitch mounted carrier basket. Not great for any extreme off-road stuff, but i read some reviews that this thing is pretty rugged. One user claimed to bottom out on it while off-roading a couple times and it stood up. Little pricier than the other brands at $200 on Amazon, but I'd rather get something that will last.

Tip: if you pick this model, the tailgate will only 99% open, the plastic part of the door handle rests on the chrome cross bar of the carrier. Thinking about flipping the crossbar (it is slightly bowed by design) to account for this but am unsure how much it compromises the 600 lb load capacity rating.

Should get my ARE Overland bed topper in the next few weeks to turn the bed into a three dog transportation compartment.

Also threw some American flag decals on from carstickers.com

I havent noticed a drop yet, ride still feels smooth to me. I havent put my front skid on yet, but you end up removing about 20-30 pounds from the stock pieces the bumper by itself was about 50 lbs and than another 50lbs for the winch with synthetic line. so not as crazy as an increase as some of the full steel bumpers. those can weigh a few hundred pounds.
