What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Just added rp 342 and rp 344 to the new frame. Fully protected now woohoo

Kinda what I was thinking as I paint for a living. I just don't like sticking my nose in everything

 

You guys are definitely right. I've already ordered some new badging for the interim until I figure out if it's even worth it to repaint (probably not). Oh well. I'd rather corners be cut aesthetically and have my truck continue to run forever.

 

Replaced my Bosch Icon wipers, 22A on both sides. Tore into an old one to study its construction. Looks like the main structural element is two spring steel strips, similar in consistency to a bandsaw blade. The arm attachment bracket and the plastic clips at the ends keep the strips in parallel to squeeze the rubber blade insert. The rest of the wiper assembly is covered by two plastic spoiler pieces with a C-channel cross-section.



According to the markings, the spoiler material is a mix of EPDM and polypropylene.



For the second old wiper, I was able to remove the plastic end clip and pull out the rubber blade insert without damaging the rest of the wiper. It might be possible to install OEM inserts and save some money compared to buying new Bosch Icons.

 

Ask a body or detail shop how much it would be to wet sand and buff that area, actually probably the whole lower part of the door. It just may be enough to blend it all in it will deffinately take away any paint edges. My guess is a simple "cut and rub" will make it barely noticeable. If your ordering new emblems you can order them black if that's your choice. if not and the originals are in good shape just get some 3m 2 sided emblem tape, clean the old off the back, apply the new, and install

If you choose to install badges and do the double sided tape DONT use the strongest tape available. I recently pulled a badge I painted and taped. 2 hours cleaning the tape residue from the V6!!

You should check out rp 342 doesnt come off like fluid film. I use fluid film on top of this wax

 

I agree I have mine rebadged but the black ones are super clean looking and I have thought about getting the black badges but I am cheap and debadge was free

I promise you it's not re painted. The enblem protected the paint underneath from the sun and elements. What your seeing is actually just the normal, factory fresh paint

 

I randomly bumped into that with my boys. Knowing now it was organized, they definitely could have done a better job... The boys loved the surprise Paw Patrol bucket and candy though!

 

Added some BAMF toyota lettering (powder coated gloss white) to my ebay grille. Turned out pretty good in my opinion. Also added to my ink collection, #4!

I wish that were the case but it's definitely a re-spray. There's a distinct outline of old/new paint. Additionally this is further evidenced by some overspray under my passenger mirror that I'd never noticed. Guess I should have been a bit more thorough during inspection. Oh well!
