But I was a jerk when I called the 3.5 a car engine....

Trucks need Torque Toyota........ Put a new 4.0 back in the truck............ Or just pull the engine from the GX460 done.... New class leader again.....

Bread and butter reputation on toyota trucks was based on a car engine.... look up 22re and the associated platforms with hp and torque. That's where the reliability reputation came from...

Toyota trucks have ALWAYS had car engines for reliability, it was the first V6 with a 3.0l "attempt"at a truck engine when reliability became a problem.

    Learn the history Dipshit.....

True that. Colorado beats it right? I almost bought one to replace my 1st gen before Toyota finally replaced the 2nd gen.

This is what I'm talking about.
Toyota was on track 4.7 great, 4.0 great, 5.7 great and all truck engineered engines.
They should have stayed with a 4.0 for the extra torque.. Not my fault it's low on power that was Toyota...
Or just offer the 4.6 they all ready make it....
Or come out with a supercharger/turbo to meet both EPA and customer demands....

Was the 2nd gen class leader in power? More than the Ridgeline and Frontier?

Must be a Sunday . Another new tsb, transmission, 2nd gen vs 3rd gen, blah blah blah.

Isn't there a couple dozen of these threads already ?

Sorry OP that you don't like the acceleration:notsure:

But that wasnt going into the Taco. You want a big toyota engine, buy a toyota truck with a big toyota engine like a Tundra.

If you want to sell Tundras as well as Tacos dont make the Taco too much like a Tundra... people catch on.

They want a piece of the full size market, Taco doesnt fill that.

    And you know this how?

I have both to find out, you?

    20160416_091053.jpg

FYI the 1st gen is parked, the 3rd gen is racking up the miles as its preferred to daily driving and gets better gas mileage.

Dont get me wrong, I love my 1st gen but the 3rd gen is a much better truck for every day needs.

Hey and they can't tow as much as a full size Ford or Chevy. A Corola gets better gas mileage too. It's just a mess

 You arent picking up my joke, but keep on keeping on, when your third gen hits 500k then you can say it will go the distance. 13 years n my 1st gen is still going strong, i dont daily it anymore either cause ive built it out and its my trail rig.

Post up your 500k mile trail rig kid, anyone can build a dedicated toy that needs wrenching after every foray into the woods. Doesnt say shit about reliability other than you keep fixing it.

    Move along here.

FYI, only owner of my 04, bought new and replaced a bunch of stuff but the motor is sound. 100% reliable, not so much.

Want a list through the years?

    Yeah, I still own it.1457986593949-1633363427.jpg
