Sometime in Nov they should be announcing the Free your gas off run - it'll likely be sometime in the first two weeks of December (as it has in the past).
@ecgreen can chime in with more information. I may or may not make that run depending on travel.

what are the chances the Rhode Island run would fall on the weekend of November 9th? Ill be home from DC that weekend and DYING to hit a trail. Last time I took it out was in May, other than that it stays at my parents house and my mom drives it to church sometimes

Hey Drew! I've been crazy busy with work and the fact that I don't have my truck with me in Washington D.C. is pretty much why Im not on here much unfortunately. Whats up with you? How's the RC?

Sounds like a plan! also, uhh whats the best way to drill into a frame for sliders? I got about 8 holes to drill for my half welded on sliders and need some pointers.

First of all patience! And do the following:
    - buy good bits
    - start with a small bit (1/8 or less )and use larger and larger bits until you get the the size you want.
    - go slow. If u go too fast you will burn the bit and ruin it.
    - use oil and/or pb blaster. Every minute or so spray the bit and hole to cool things down and keep things lubed up.
    - prime and paint holes

Hope that helps... remember go slow. It's going to take some time.

I bought the best bits home depot had! I have a hand held corded bell systems drill, should that do the trick? ive heard of people using floor jack drill crazy contraptions to do this.

    Thanks by the way!

Working, wheeling, and wrenching man. Not sure the last time you saw a pic of the truck but it's changed a bit since the last time we wheeled together

@tacobell007 can chime in more but I suggest fresh bits, step them up sizes, use a lot of cutting oil and don't put too much pressure. Let the bit do the work, it'll take time. A good pair of safety glasses, some gloves, a file to de-bur it when you're done. Brake clean to get the oil off then paint to cover it up after.

Pretty much. Line up your sliders after you wipe the frame down. Mark hole locations, and start step drilling. Cutting oil helps, it will be smokey but liberally use it. I prefer HSS bits for hand drilling as Cobalt you'll risk chipping the cutting edges if you're not careful. Cobalt cuts harder material better but it is more brittle. The frames are 2 layers thick, induction hardened (or similar on the heat treat process) so you'll need to get through the hard outer layer, then it will be easier to get through til you hit the other hardened part. Best bet is to drill the holes oversized and use washers, once you put a hole there, your not going to be able to elongate it without a carbide burr and the right tool, cant remember the name of it

    Oh shit shots fired! :goingcrazy:

Thanks Drew and Jason, the sliders were all pro bolt ons but i tacked them on for now so all i had to do was figure out the drilling process and what i needed, the holes are already marked for me as the sliders are already where they have to be! IIRC the bits i picked up are HSS, i always buy those ones when i break bits anyways because they are awesome at almost everything. Thanks for some frame drilling info guys!

No problem! I also prefer HSS since I can hand sharpen them on the bench grinder

    Don't forget beer... or liquor..

    Correct

I sold my Pro Comps to a kid from Leominster today - totally forgot to get his info but he was interested in wheeling. If you're on here (I told him the check out this thread) this is the run I was telling you about.
