So I was bs’n with my former employer today who does a lot of fiberglass molding. They recently got into carbon parts and asked me if there’s anything trick that they could make for the Tacoma. I mentioned my bushwacker flares go for about $500/set and they are just ABS plastic!
So it got me thinking..I haven’t really been into the carbon scene since my import car days, as I never really saw a need on an off-road truck. But carbon accents might look kinda cool... Especially on a black or white Taco.

So my question to you all,
Would you be interested in “bushwacker” style flares in full carbon fiber? The best part: the price would be much LESS than a full set of plastic flares.!
I understand the propertiy differences of both materials (I.e plastic can give where carbon will crack) weight difference is a wash or negligible. It would really be only for aesthetics.

Painted carbon with exposed areas, ie a Toyota or TacomaTacoma, looks really cool. Could also do a carbon hood

I’d be interested in the radio/cluster trim and steering wheel parts in carbon. Basically any interior part in carbon lol.

For sure. A lot of euro guys will take a full carbon hood/trunk and paint 99% of it only leaving the duck bill, Louvers, etc exposed. That’s totally possible, but would be up to the end user to paint. These would come raw carbon with clear coat.
Good idea. AFAIK there is nothing like that besides the lame add on stickers.

I just want a more seamless way to mold a snorkel into my fender and A pillar...I was planning on doing my own fiberglass/bondo work though.

I can hydro dip most any part to make it look like carbon fiber. Hi gloss shine, Med. shine or Flat. Standard black and silver or any other color combination.

Not my style but more option for our trucks is always a good thing. What about carbon fiber skewp? Or carbon fiber raised tailgate letters. Maybe even carbon fiber mirror covers

Yea the stickers look super lame and cheap, I’d rather pay a few extra doll hairs for a quality and real carbon all day.

1)you are not getting the same dimensions as stock flares. These would be wider offering more protection for people with wider wheel/tire setup.(like bushwacker. Also, Hydro carbon never looks like the real thing.
2)hydro dip cost for 4 on TOP of purchasing a set of aftermarket flares would be a ridiculous price. These would be the real deal for half that.

Just throwing out the idea. Not bashing hydrodip, as it has its purpose for some items. But IMO not an entire flare.

I like the skewp idea. Wouldn’t care much for letters as I want to offer something unique nobody has done before.

How about carbon fiber "tweener" flares? Sized between stock and Bushwacker? I think Bushwacker stick out a bit too far. I would buy a tweener size.
