Does anyone have a picture of where I can find the engine serial number plate on a 5VZ? According to the FSM, it’s above the oil filter behind the alternator, but I don’t seem to see anything.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
They don't say a whole lot, but it's on the flat portion below the 5VZ cast

Pretty sure they don't stamp the VIN on these

I got the engine serial number off TIS courtesy of @Empty_Lord, just curious if the 5-lug engine is original.

Truck spent its life California. No salt or winters.

Here’s the 450,000 mile frame of my 5-lug with the dust wiped off. You can see your reflection in it.

No rust is pretty nice, gotta admit. Never have come across a seized bolt before.

I installed LED lamps in my 2000 4x4...now all the lifted big trucks are flashing me...next are larger wheels/less rubber for on-road work. New job, lots of freeway to cover...just turned 70.000 original miles today!

:facepalm:Hope you don’t live near me. I wish it were legal to take a ball bat to every vehicle that blinds me running leds in stock housing. Might wanna read this thread below https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/why-leds-should-not-be-run-in-halogen-reflectors.454371/

Anyone with a 2nd gen supercharger know which line to tap for the boost gauge? Having trouble getting a proper reading. I've tried these 2 spots

Well hello there TW....it's been a while.

Took a couple of years off to get married, start a family and start a new job but I came back to TW with a super big itch that I've i wanted to scratch for a looooooong time.

Here's what I did over the past 6 weeks or so.

35x12.5 Creepy Crawlers on Bird Dog Rims

First fitting. Clearance was similar to my MT/R's when new. I'm going to run the creepy's only on day's that I wheel it.

    SPC Uppers

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand

with triplets (this is probably going to be a bitch to fit. You don't have a lot of room under there and that's after hours of banging the *&$% out of it with a thor hammer.

Unfortunately they sent me the wrong base for the stock t-case so i might have to drop it out for like the 50th time

    Next up
    1. Custom Budbuilt crossmember for crawl box
    2. Driveshafts.....obviously
    3. URD Short throw shifter
    4. Bend and fit new shifters
    5. Custom shifter covers (going for stock look)
    6. Extend wires
    7. New mounts

Miscellaneous stuff over the past couple of months
    1. Replaced/burnt off a few bushings
    2. Wheeler's bump stops
    3. Wheeler's extended brake lines
    4. New cv's
    5. reworked recovery gear

All and all it was probably the most fun I've had working on the truck in a long time. Install is pretty easy minus all of the hammering but I'll circle back once I fit 10 lbs of shifters in a 2 lb hole. Cannot wait to get the driveshafts back.

    Remaining plans for the fall/winter
    1. 4x Innovations roll cage
    2. Purchase car hauler
    3. Buy a full size pickup and retire the taco as a DD
    4. Slow wheel the *&^ out of it :turtleride:

    Cheers!

The second picture is correct. You have the fuel pressure regulator going to the boost port (brass fitting on the back of SC) right?

I was under my truck today and noticed this. I don’t know if it’s my main rear seal leaking since there’s no oil leaking from it. Any help will be highly appreciated.

If you're using Toyota red, that looks like died up coolant residue. If it was ATF it would still be wet & would be much darker red. Also if your rear main seal was leaking, it would be engine oil & not ATF.

Yes I tap to that line, however it is not a brass fitting, just a simple vacuum T. I get readings but when I step on it and it reaches 3500rpm. Maybe that fitting is restricting it? o_O
