If I have a dead deer I throw it in the cab to keep the bed clean.

Either remove the bed platform in less than 5 mins, or use my trailer.
What do people who own a suv or car do?

Not transport dead animals other than what can fit in a plastic bag?

The only dead animals I'm transporting in my truck are wrapped in cellophane and located in a shopping bag. I don't hunt, and I don't pick up roadkill so that eliminates that problem.

Now there's some people with some sense.

I was imagining doing a platform that the back 3 feet or so folds forward to open up valuable and useable bed space for things like this. A tarp works too. :fistbump:

Good for you. I'll bet you think no animals were harmed in the making of your packaged dead animal...:bananadead:

I guess everyone who doesn’t hunt must be morally opposed to it. People can’t just find it silly or not care about it at all, no chance of that.

I like to have a well rounded vehicle I can use for all my hobbies. Hence researching a solution that allows me to achieve that.

Meeting generalization with more generalization... I like your strategy.

It is not uncommon for people who grew up in sheltered city lives to not know where their food comes from. I chose to know exactly where my food comes from.

This isn't the BS thread. I'm sure there is one somewhere out there if you want to choose to not contribute to a conversation.

I did this with my most recent rendition of a platform. My main reason for doing it was to save my knees when I need to crawl in there, which it is effective at. I don't think I would rely on it as a sleeping surface though. Might work as that if you prefer a VERY firm bed.

Stupid question but in doing this, how did you account for moisture or possible mold growth....

Although Arizona is not all desert (I live in the middle of the largest ponderosa pine forest in the world) the air is much drier out here, especially at the elevation I live at (Flagstaff is close to 7,000 ft. above sea level, which is higher rhan any point east of the Mississippi).
Monsoon season (end of summer into early fall) is the main time of year I would need to consider excessive moisture, and I've made the platform easily removable to that end.

Who here insulated the bed? I may line the bed and the side walls with Reflectix. It is pretty thin and better then nothing. I don't think I will be insulating the cap (lined with all weather carpet). Anyone see a difference on a isolated bed?

any insulation helps and goes a long way, i had a thin aluminum walled leer where i used freight truck insulation i found leftover at the shop. I have not insulated the bed itself, but id imagine its the same thing, ive drilled through it many times and its very thin.

Right now, I've got a bed mat on the plastic liner, mainly to provide a reasonably flat surface for crawling around and stop stuff from sliding. My topper is felt-lined.

With that, a decent 3" foam mattress and 0F sleeping bag, I was comfortable down to the upper 20s on a recent camping trip. Not a RV, but definitely better than a tent...
