Well the search continues. I’ll leave the original post regarding the first camper I stumbled upon. I’ll keep this thread and update it with different types and styles of shells until I find “the one”. Obviously scroll to the last page to stay current on the last shell I’ve seen or tried on. Thanks. Feedback is appreciated.

    FOUND ONE...... last page.

I’ve been searching the inner web for a nice budget friendly camper for my 01 Tacoma. It’s been tough finding the “right” camper for the “right price”. I’ve haven’t really seen many that would fit my truck, until I found this interesting one. I believe it’s not a LEER or ARE, or even a SnugTop, even the owner doesn’t know. All he knows is he has it currently mounted in a 02 tacoma. Here are some pics. He originally listed it for $250.00 two years about according to the listing but offered him a solid $50 and he was cool with it. Well here are the pics. Let me know if I should fork the money out for this type of camper.

If the measurements are good and the shell looks decent ( nothing a can of plastidip) can't fix.:D
    The price is right

Thanks just never seen that type of style. Not sure how it’ll look with it. Your right, I would have to match it up with my truck.

Think real hard about whether you want windoors(side access hatch windows) before you buy a topper. They're not made for that style. Also, the roof bars are fixed rather than mounted to a slotted roof track so location isn't adjustable. If you do get it, buy new double bulb gasket.

Can’t hurt. Surely you can get your money back out of it if you change your mind down the road.

It looks like it came from a 84 or 85 4runner

Sorry a bit new to this topper discussion. What’s a double bulb gasket? Guessing it’s that rubber gasket that sits on the back window of your truck ?

Your right about that. That guy has had it on offer up for two years ! Lol hopefully I don’t have that luck re-listing it.

Between the topper and the bed rails. Most gaskets need replacement if the topper is to be reinstalled.

Lol. Damn. I don’t think it’s that one. Looks different. Unfortunately he didn’t upload more pics on his listing.

All I can say is it looks similar but does have handles on the rear window and the 4 runner didn't have those. Lol

Yeah, check the online truck and rv sites and Amazon. Worst case you can get the foam tape from pepboys, oreilly or amazon. Since that topper doesn't overhanging the bed you'll need to be picky about that part of the install or it will leak(often at the front corners if the seal isn't connected where it turns the corner).

I am still betting it was on a 4 runner. The last year they made a 4 runner with a removable top was 89. Good luck.

Thanks! Let’s see how it looks on a 1st gen. As long as it doesn’t look bad I’ll take it. :spending:
