No, grooving issues on the billet aluminum sleeve that the crank pulley rides on the inside of the timing cover was an issue because of the pressure the spring inside the crank seal causes. I believe the issue has been rectified by NST, but regardless. Even if it was not I know exactly where to source a steel sleeve from and what to do about it.

 

For anyone wanting a blank raw silver billet pulley with the RIP mod already machined into it.

I come from the high performance world where the options there are endlessly fruitful, so I'm just giving TW's exclusive niche boosted group a small corner full of it's own resources and options to choose from of it's own high performance items is all. I just like to keep the community informed.

 

Do they do a 2.8? And would I need to still get the pulleyboys quick change set up?

 

You would require a pulleyboys qwikchange billet hub adapter and hardware only, no pulley.

He can make you a pulley in whatever size you desire, 3.0, 2.8, down to 1.0 if you want to go crazy. You can also request to have the RIP mod cuts integrated into it or not. It's custom, so he can do whatever you would like.

 

Did NST start making pulleys for our trucks again? Better yet, has someone actually received pulleys from ordering them in the past year?

I emailed NST and asked them if they had any old stock S/C pulleys. They said they didn’t have any and it’s formally discontinued.

Only the original sets out there.

 

Do I understand correctly that their tacoma kit fits our s/c trucks?

I am interested in hearing how this goes for you. I have wanted to do the nst pulleys, but I didn’t want issues with the crank pulley. Also curious if you are getting the crank pulley why not get the others nst offers as well?

 

Keagan? Possibly? His "wife" is one of our ASM's. But yes, they are all great people. Just a different sort of corporate structure now that they have been bought out and not small town Idaho Bully Dog anymore.

And because the crank pulley is 80% of where the performance gains are because there is tons of rotational mass on the OE crank pulley.

Idk if you have ever pulled off the stock crank pulley, but it weighs a ton in compro to the WP and alt pulleys.

 

Over at Smoothflow they have this wrap kit. I know it won't work on ours, but it was a different idea that I hadn't thought of. Just interesting.
