Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
Builds change too. If I knew what I knew now I'd buy some crazy high spring rate coilovers, like kings with 700-to whatever they'll make them to to, maybe 800?

I know what you mean....Ultimately, I opted for Bilstein 5100s and OME 888 springs for now (and to spend the extra budget buying another gun or two :D)

later down the road, I may switch to Kings, Toytec 2.5, or Icons.... but for the next year or two, this setup works great for my truck

Morning all. If any of you ever feel compelled to volunteer to work a marathon, don't. Wish I could have went with you all up to Flagpole; looked like a great time!

What? Kidding and I feel you on the medical folks. I spent 6+ years at Bogue Field in NC listening to Harriers hover and conduct LHA approaches. And medical wonders why I keep failing the hearing tests. They just keep resetting my baseline for the next time I fail.

I should be down for something this weekend...maybe even for yut-yut day.

Uhhh...drinking? Did I miss something here? :D :drunk:

Im pretty sure we dont need the 3.0 at all. But actually i don't know the differences. One obvious difference is 3.0-2.5= 0.5 :p

Fair enough. I think i mathed out my truck as needing 650 coils, which are stock king rate, right?

In the wise words of @ARCHIVE ”we’ll never need 3.0s on a Tacoma. That’s ridiculous.” Or something like that.

Sound advice, for sure. I don't think I'll get too crazy with weight though... front skid, sliders and maybe eventually a front bumper. I do think a bedrack and RTT will happen overtime, but I don't think I'll keep it on full time. Main purpose of the lift is for aesthetics and to tighten everything up and get a better on road feel. I also am not trying to kill my MPG's with weight because my commute is 80 miles a day when home... Great advice though for sure!

This is kind of the approach I took as well. I eventually want to upgrade to Kings or Fox, but for now I wanted something to get me able to carry some weight, perform better on/off road, provide the aesthetics I wanted, and not break my bank right out of the gate. When this suspension eventually wears out, I will be ready to drop the coin on a top-tier setup.

I did the math and I should be about 300 lb Over stock. Seeing as we start with a 560 stock, that would be 700, but since I don't have 4wd, I'll go with 650

Exactly. The whole “buy once cry once” isn’t always the best advice in regards to suspension IMO, at least not for everyone. Everyone uses their truck differently and may not know what they like or how they’ll use it. Even I fall in that category, but now that I’ve had two inexpensive set ups on my truck, I know that’s all I need. I’ll likely never buy top tier suspension not because I can’t afford it, but simply because I can’t justify the high cost.

Now if someone already has that knowledge and is starting a fresh build, then obviously buying high quality right out of the gate makes sense for them.

I asked AccuTune about putting 3.0's under the front of my Dodge with 1,000lb Cummins engine, and they said 2.5's would be fine. I interpret from that that 3.0 are more for trophy truck trailing arm stuff
